Raven armour problems (spoilers)

Post by Ms. Fualbe »

Greetings,

I am having a most frustrating time with the armour quest. I have the armour piece from the lakeside crypt and (I thought) all the other armour pieces - three in total, I think - and the minstrel notes. When I got the last piece from Raven's tomb the quest did not update properly- it says that I have the armour pieces and the notes, but underneath it says I need more armour pieces, and even though the tomb is empty, the track quest pointer is on Raven's sarcophagus still. I thought to disregard this for now, so I went to the old mine and I am trying to cast the spells at the Wayfarer's stone so I can get the gnomish device, but nothing happens. I even went to a walkthrough to see which signs to cast, because I couldn't get it to work- it turned out I was casting the correct ones (igni, igni, aard), but even so, i keep being told that this combination does not work and to try something else.

I have an UK version of the game with patch 1.2.

My questions are these:

1. Do I have to have all the armour pieces and the minstrel notes before going for the gnomish device?
2. How many armour pieces are there and where are they? Have I missed something? Do I have to get them in a particular order?
3. Might I have missed talking to someone along the way and this is why it doesn't work?

I have noticed that sometimes the game doesn't update properly and then you get stuck. I had it happen twice so far, bothj times in act 5. The first was after defending Shani in the hiospital- I went out and ran around like crazy trying to get out of old Vizima and couldn't. Eventually, I went back a save, went to the hospital and this was followed by a cut scene with Zoltan, who told me about attacking the barricade.
The second time was soon after- I got through the barricade, ended up by the gate with White Rayla standing there and defending it, and nothing else happening (except Zoltan telling me to use magic and the quest pointer directing me to the no longer existing first barricade). Again I reloaded to before the battle and this time after destroying the first barricade I was told to attack the left flank, and all ended as it should have.

Please help- this is really driving me mad!

All of the portals where you have to cast signs have different combinations, and they might even be random. You only have to use igni and aard, so there are eight possible combinations that can work, but you just have to keep trying until you find the right one.

If you haven't found the armor part that you need to teleport to, then you haven't found all of the parts yet.

Wayfarer's Stones

This post is a bit old but I hope someone still looks after new replies.

In Ch. 5, I have found the Wayfarer's Stone location in the Old Mine but I cannot get the Igni Igni Aard set to work. When I cast Igni Igni that uses up the spell bar and I have to wait for it to regrow. Am I doing something wrong? I am clicking the right hand mouse button as I would in battle but I somehiow feel that this is not right. Should I use the keyboard numbers 1 and 4?

It shouldn't make any difference how you cast the signs. After casting igni twice and then waiting, what happens when you cast aard? Does it not work?

You could always use a tawny owl potion to increase your endurance regen.

Wayfarer's Stones

After waiting for the regrowth to let me cast AARD the screen shifts like it was going to save the game but I don't get a stone. Maybe I'm not supposed to get an actual stone? What does this (or other) stones do?

You're not supposed to get a stone. The wayfarer's stones should teleport you.

Where do you teleport to, another location? If so, what I am doing must be incorrect. How is one supposed to cast the spell? Another question is why does the map change from a detailed layout of the particular location to a world map that only shows an arrow for where you currently are?

You should get teleported to another wayfarer's stone. Since you said you got the loading screen, it might be that everything is working correctly, but the two locations look a little alike, so you're not noticing that you've moved.
