Shady deals

Shade Lord was also a cinch - PC is a ranger - have him hiding when he walks into the area - so made my PC dive to the right, outside of the initial attack zone of the SL, then with the spellcasters distracting the enemy, stand up close and use Daystar. Not their favourite weapon, when summoning a beam of light.

Most unexpected easy battle for a NPC - Jaheira - challenges the naughty druid - insect plague and summon creatures to hand. as soon as control restored, fire off plague - opponent spends her time fighting bugs whilst the summoned creatures hack away. battle over and not a scratch on "Big J".

insect plague is a real belter in combat with high characters - often it prevents casting so long that by the time they can try to engage in combat, the party have arrayed themselves so well that the enemy is helpless to counter them.

another frequent aid to easy success is the skelton army - have a cleric summon a few skellies and they act as effective guards and point-men: lasting so long that if the party are disturbed in sleep, they are there to take the brunt of the attack. sending them ahead is like having a minesweeper - they trigger ambushes and are strong enough to keep the enemy engaged long enough for an effective counter-attack to be devised. e.g. gauth and beholders attack the skeletons and then you send more summoned creatures as they fall - J sending in cave bears usually does the trick, but in difficult cases an elemental or two is pretty effective.

The finnuest hard fight i've ever fought was actually Irenicus in hell... I thought that I should do a test-fight without protection spell, just to see what he does... So I put the last tear in place - he came with his four monsters, and i just started attacking - My fighters (Keldorn and Minsc) slaughtered the four monsters in no time and after that i just ran around waiting for Irenicus buffs to wear off. Then i casted like a bunch of lower resistences and killed him easily!

The feeling after that was... GREAT! :D

priest of talos

the funniest kill i ever saw was when i was walking in the docks area on my way to the shadow thieves guild and that priest of talos wearing the black robe came up and told my berzerker to follow talos and stuff. i then said no, he attacked me, i attacked him and on the first hit with a 2 handed sword the guy exploded into bits!

I was a bit taken by surprise in ToB when Sarevok had his first "Deathbringer Assault" which did 200 damage - where did that enemy go? I looked back and read the text and saw how much combined the opponent had suffered in one round - ka-boom!

if you have several 'critical hits' in one round, even dragons can go down in a few seconds and you are left wondering how you got away with it. happened in WK - I had set a whole load of traps, declared Jihad on the dragon and before I could run past the spike traps to get him to impale himself, he was dead and I had a load of wasted traps just sitting there.

Last time I played, I went straight to Watcher's keep without going anywhere other than picking up the sword in the gate district. Spoiler
At that level I was even having problems with the air elementals until I accidentally set off a trap (Cloudkill I think) that killed them all. Made me realise that my accident could well be used as a tactic on that level.
I know Air elemental's aren't that tough, but the fact that I killed them by accident was quite amusing

I think i killed him with just 3. :/

My weirdest/easiest kill was this one. I'm guessing the Stoneskin absorbed the physical damage but that didn't stop the Mace of Disruption's effect.

The most memorable easy victory I ever had was the first time I had to fight Nizidramanii'yt. Just before getting to him I must have just gotten Whirlwind on Korgan. Anyway, I remember it as the first time I activated whirlwind. I thought I was in for one big fight but for some reason the Nizidramanii'yt fell over dead before I could start organizing my forces.

I credited the easy kill to Korgans shiny whirlwind. Wether or not I will never know but activating such a cool ability and seeing the dragon keel over doesn't want you to search for decisions.

Improved Demogorgon killed in one round (not counting the Time Stop, d'uh) by three naked sorcs. 3xChain Cont with Pierce Shield, 2x Breach, 4x Lower Res and 2x Grt. Malison followed by 3xChain Cont with 9 ADHD. A few energy blades on top of that and hi 100.000 quest exp.

I thought Demongoron wasn't affected by level 5 or lower spells?

Fighting Draconis on one of my many runs. For some reason, I kept losing rather badly...his Stoneskins, Spell Immunities, Magic Resistances, etc. kept preventing me from even touching him.

Then, after about an hour, on the first hit, somehow Keldorn hit with Carsomyr and the Dispel worked and wiped out everything he had on him. He was down within the round. :D

Maybe so, I suppose I should've loaded the CCs differently then. Doesn't matter, he still went down like a leaf. :)

One time I was playing through with 2 friends. I cant really remember what classes the other guys were playing.

We where going for Kangaxx without a real strategy running around getting imprisoned etc(we had the lvls and items needed).

All of the sudden we won, he was dead, really dead now lichdom for him! The really funny thing one of my friends was laughing so hard he couldnt manage to tell us what happened. When he finally could talk he said he had used Wand of Wonders on Kangaxx. From that day on we have held the wand in high esteem. Not knowing what the wand did to him makes the vicory all the sweeter.

I believe it's been mentioned already, but it was Firkraag. One shotted with Minsc's vorpal sword. A rather sad end for a red dragon
Sage plays a paladin,
because other classes would be frowned upon for laying their hands on a wounded companion

Killing Kangaxx with an underpowered low-level party. The real problem was that I didn't have anything to use against it, +1/+2 weapons and at best a fireball.

I casted a fire elemental, which don't do good melee damage but *can* touch and kill it given enough time. Then I used a protection scroll that I bought on the fire elemental (I forget what those scrolls are called - the strongest variety), which I figured was kind of a novelty because you usually cast those on party members instead -especially since you pay about an arm and a limb for them. I think I casted a second elemental to draw away the instant death spells it always spams, but it wasn't even necessary.

I just sat and watched as the little guy slowly chipped away at the mighty Kangaxx. That was kinda fun. It also made me realize how limited some newer games like Knights of the Old Republic are, as far as finding creative solutions to battles in D20 environments goes.

The funniest kill that came to mind was when I was playing an evil mage in
BG1, and I was essentially killing everyone that wasnt "game essential" just to see if I could. When I stumbled upon Cadderly outside of Candlekeep I figured he would be unkillable (ala Elminster) since I had read several books with him as the protagonist. Anyways, tried a "polymorph other" and to my amazement it worked. Went and stomped the squirrel and ended up with a cool 18000xp if I remember correctly.

I tried to kill Ulraunt last time i played (for fun, levelling to 50 and importing TOB items). After inflicting 750 damage he was Near Dead and just disappeared. He only he 180ish HP left. :p

in bg 1 i once tried to kill elminster by letting my whole party throw darts of bitting (the ones that do posion damage) at him. and he started getting 1 point of damage many times and i am not sure if he died or not but man it was cool seeing him walk towards me getting hurt along the way :mischief:

First time I ever played I escaped the Irenicus Club Med and went straight for the Circus Tent after unloading the loot. I had Minsc, Jah, and Yoshimo. I was a wild mage with crappy hit points. We went to the tent with me hiding behind the others and made it to Kalah after some fighting. I had my strategy all set, I was expecting a difficult fight so I sent Minsc into his berserk state and when his circle turned yellow I heard "Ya-hey"! and I was dead. Minsc hit me instead of the enemy. It was then I discovered you lose control of Minsc when he berserks... So it wasn't really a victory for me but it was easy & funny :o )

When I killed him, it was just about the most boring battle I have ever fought and I only got a wand of sleep out of it! What was funny was that when I went outside and I was arrested, Ulraunt was alive again and talked to me as per the script.
