ruin of the past (spoiler?)

i got some trouble with that quest in chapter 1to get the silver shard in the swamp ruins.
when i get to the silver shard, theres cutscene there but it dosent apears i go back at the village and they tell me i dont have it, i put it back in the chest and grab it again and nothing happens.

im a fighter, sun elf. i tried with an other one but the same thing happes help

the coversation never triggers bevil never tells me this place gives me the creeps lets go back.

ive allready pass that quest several times with others characters but since ive install MotB it dosent work

Did you update after you installed MotB?
There are two updates that I know of for that expansion, precisely for those sort of problems.
