Jan, Viconia and Edwin are weak as kittens!

Post by Red »

My party is pretty cool but I have to say, Jan, Viconia and Edwin are really weak in the beginning! If Jan gets 2 good hits he's dead! That really s*cks!

Tha's what you get for choosing the pure spellcasters (Ed and Vic.) Better spell power, poor hit points. HAve some good tanks on hand.

I don't much like their physical strength, either. I am not playing evil, so I don't use Vic or Edwin; Jan is in my group and his low strength is really annoying for carrying items. His own stuff is more than half his carrying capacity, it seems.

Vic can be fixed if you give her that mace that makes her strength 18 (Mauler's Arm, I believe).

Edwin doesn't need strength,

Oops, didn't finish. Edwin doesn't need strength, keep him out of direct combat and just have him carry around all the scroll cases and other light stuff. not wearing armor makes his burden a lot lighter.

You can but it from Bernard at the Copper Coronet, but I think it is only available after you finish the slaver quest.

That quest is easy, so no problem there. BTW what I find really strange is that place with the mushrooms under the Copper Coronet. Why is it there? There's no good loot or anything and it seems like a real plane-changing experience? Anybody got any idea why the developers put it in there?

I gave Vic the Girdle of Hill giant strength (available in the adventurers mart). That means she has 19 str and you don't have to worry about her slowing down if you unequip maulers arm. She is my #2 fighter (wielding Flail of Ages) with Korgan since my PC just dualed to mage and isn't worth a damn yet.

I wouldn't say low consitution makes these characters weak. You simply has to use them different than your fighters. Viconia has a very high dexterity. Equip her with gauntlets of ogre power (til different use of this item) or the girdle of hill giant strength. Than she can wear all armour as well as a larger shield. Her AC will be very low. It still hurts when she gets hit, but she doesn't get it that often. As for the mages, those should never get hit, even when they've got the small bonus of 2 HP/level (if a constition of 16 or above). Iron skin, improved invisibilty, mirror image and many, many more spells will take care of that. You should give the mages the luxuary of at least some protective spells.
