Armor help

Post by x lance x »

hey everyone my baldurs gate didn't come with instructions so im hoping you can help me out, I need to know how to tell if its good armor or if its not, because I always thought that getting more on - in the armor rating is good but the difference between a shield worth 120 gp and one worth 30k is that the shield worth 120 gp gives me more on my - armor rating so im sure this is not right If someone could just help me out Id be thankful :)

Your AC (armour class) has to be lower to get better. Hope that helps you enough

The best armour is the best armour you can find. The low the AC, the better.

Like in real life the price doesn't always equal the usefulness, a standard helm usually offers more protection than a golden crown but doesn't cost as much for example.

It's often confusing how things are handled in BG2, since it uses the outdated AD&D rules which weren't made for computer games. Wearing a shield+1 does actually decrease your AC by 1 compared to a normal shield for example. "+" in the armor description always means armor improvement while a "+" in the character description about AC vs different damage types means the opposite.

Try doing a search on manual and you will find that you should have one in your folder, if not you can download one. that should answer most questions, but remember that it cannot always be trusted impicitly.
