The downer is that because they are item effects, spells that lower resistance or dispel such things as Minor Globe of Invulnerability and Globe of Invulnerability are useless.
Actually, i checked it out both in NearInfinity and InfinityExplorer and the immunity to +* magical isn't listed (on the ring at least). Just look at Kangaxx and you'll see he's got those immunities listed.

Minsc's Berserk does not protect against Imprisonment. Only against, Charm, Confusion, Rigid Thinking, Sleep, morale failure and seemingly also against Level Drain?

The only thing that bothers me about your messages is that you keep apologizing for "bothering" us. :) In case you hadn't noticed, we enjoy talking about the game and helping other players. Otherwise, we wouldn't be here.
Point taken. I will try to refrain from that. :o
It's just that I know that most of you guys know this game inside and out and here comes the new guy with the dumb questions.

And believe me, it's very obvious that you guys love the game and enjoy helping folks. When I look at the dates that some of you joined. Well that's just awesome. And when I say at the end of all my post. THANKS. I mean it.

OFF TOPIC: I just came in contact with a really "COOL" Silver Dragon. Someone please tell me I don't have to kill this beautiful creature. Red, Brown, Green, no problem. But a Silver Dragon

By the Way. The join date next to my name is when my grandson joined. When he went in the service, he told me to just use the account. We both have the same nickname (sonny) He edited the profile. I've only been coming here since I started BG1 back in Oct/Nov of last year. Just thought I would pass this along.

and Alloy once silver, gold, copper and so on

the coloured are evil, the alloyed are good :)

Thanks, that's great. She's one of the coolest things I've seen in the game. It really took me by surprise

I just went with the assumption that Minsc's enrage was the same as Berserker rage. Apologies for misleading facts.

Sonny, no question is a dumb question. Feel free to bother us even more.

Thanks, I'm sure I will. :D

So I assume the only real defense against the Imprisonment spell, is just try to silence or kill them before they can cast it. Pure luck so to speak :)

No, though minsc's enrage doesnt defend against imprisonment, a beserkers enrage still will; they are slightly different. so korgan, if he is in your party, or a beskerker pc will be immune to it.

The priest spell chaotic commands will also infer immunity, as will one of the spell immunities, though i can't remember which.

The Duergar merchants in the Underdark also sell several Freedom scrolls which may be used to free an Imprisoned character. It's not a protection, but a way of getting your characters back.

Note that if your love interest is Imprisoned and you get her back through this, the romance will be terminated.

Don't forget Spell Trap. It protects you AND restores your spells.

Some guy named Vithal, here in the Underdark wipes me out with it when I tell him his rewards not enough. This was also cast on my party somewhere else, can't remember where, I must have gotten lucky. The way I'm looking at it, is even if it's just a side quest, (don't know, have not beat him yet) would still like to figure it out.
D
I've just discovered that if you are greedy and want more from Vithal, there are ways of getting more without killing him. Think about it!

Not so many monsters use Imprisonment, and most of them are recognizable - for instance, each Elder Orb and Hive Mother has 1 Imprisonment spell available. Vithal, however, has 3 at his disposal. But, if you set enough traps, for instance, around the Air Portal, then he will be killed the moment he turns hostile.

The fifth level Divine spell Chaotic Commands is great, but unfortunately, does not protect vs Imprisonment, only vs Maze. But here are some guaranteed ways to avoid Imprisonment:

1. Magic resistance does NOT help vs Imprisonment
2. Berserker's ENRAGE helps vs Imprisonment. Barbarian RAGE(as well as Minsc's Rage) does not protect your character vs Imprisonment.
3. I think Spell Trap protects vs Imprisonment, but am not 100% sure. You have to test this on your own.
4. Spell Immunity: ABJURATION will protect your character not only from Remove/Dispel Magic, but also from Imprisonment
5. Protection from Magic scrolls will negate Imprisonment. But there are only 2 of those, unless you duplicate them via Simulacra/Projected Images.

NOTE: A protective buff must be activated before your enemy has finished casting Imprisonment. If the animation of the spell is already on its way, then there is NO WAY to save your character via any method. This is valid also for the Maze spell.

Don't forget that for a solo character, being Mazed or Imprisoned means Sudden death.

6. The Freedom spell will indeed free any party members, breaking any romances with them at the same time. BTW, if your main character gets Imprisoned even in a party, this is also Sudden death.
