Unofficial Patch 4.6 released!

Post by Wesp5 »

Hi everyone, because several people were asking about the next version already and enough stuff had accumulated, the unofficial patch 4.6 is out and available as usual as an exclusive for the first few days from The Patches Scrolls ((The Patches Scrolls) Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Downloads)!

This time the full patch is installer only because I noticed that starting with Worthplaying the 4.5 archive ended up on several sites without the readme included! Mind you, the installer is nothing more than an automated extractor that will copy all files to the right places but it will not touch the registry or any other system files. There will be a smaller incremental patch from 4.5 to 4.6 available in a few days.

As for the patch itself, the biggest change is that now the light- and memory-fixed engine.dll is already included so if you get problems running that, rename the backup that the installer will create for you. Other fixes include handling of stupid player behaviour like persuading Tommy Flayton or the Gargoyle and then killing them afterwards and several more minor issues.

The biggest changes for the plus patch are an added option to keep Heather alive similar to the mod of the same name that is not compatible to my patches, and the addition of seduction feeding from the homosexual Tommy Flayton and the bisexual SM blueblood. Of course these gameplay related changes are not included in the basic patch! The complete changelog for 4.6 is below:

v4.6 03.02.2008
----
Included fixed engine.dll and improved installer, thanks to MooCHa.
Changed damage of Ming's spit to bash and fixed minor text issues.
+Added male seduction feeding to the SM blueblood and Tommy Flayton.
Added log for sending Patty to alley and fixed two connected bugs.
Synced scream in hospital and rotated bus stop texture in downtown.
+Added option to keep Heather alive, but without getting the armor.
Prevented Tremere from being able to loose their haven for treason.
Fixed re-persuading or killing Tommy Flayton after quest was over.
Made Romero give you ammo with his rifle instead of magic box fill.

Restored overlooked Dodge powerup into Ocean House for basic patch.
Made Empire door locks consistent and added sound to Sin Bin kick.
+Adjusted NPC reloading of both crossbows and added some missing xp.
Hid invisible block at the theatre and corrected a few more props.
+Fixed new Danielle lines, Gary's poster order and Bertram CD quest.
Restored missing xp for second Pisha item and removed Nadia sound.
Fixed killing the Gargoyle after persuading him and a dialogue bug.
Corrected Heather not giving silver ring when you already got one.
Removed dialogue loop for McFly and restored another missing sound.

Great Wesp, you're a lifesaver!

I was just about to start another game when I saw the new patch release. I'll give it a try and post feedback here if something comes up. It seems to fix many bugs and strange behaviors.

By the way, nice going using the installer, I had a hard time deciphering the changes made in prior patches because the "readme" file had been removed.

C U, bro!

P.S.: The "Loading Tips" problem, which I meantioned in another thread, still persists and I had to delete the file again.
And so I left...
Cold of heart and soul.

Could you elaborate on that? What does the memory-fixed engine.dll do? What would be a problem that you referred to?

The memory-fixed engine.dll removes the problem Bloodlines has on systems with more than 2 GB main memory. It also fixes the light-rays-gone-after-reloading bug which can be seen very good e.g. in the club Confession. I have a backup made during installation because I don't know if the engine.dll is the same for all different Bloodlines versions, like retail, D2D, Steam etc. I suspect it is but I wanted to be on the sure side.

Thanks for re-insitututing the gangfight in Traffik.

I always thought it was dumb that the dialogue you hear during your stalking points to both gangs having itchy trigger fingers and planning to betray one another, yet in older versions, both gangs seem to delight in acting in unison to gun you down.

Traffik was always a much more lethal quest than it should be that early in the game, IMO, especially since once you reach the briefcase you couldn't sneak back out of the parking lot (unless you were a Malkovian or a Nosferatu).
