UAI only allows you to use certain weapons, it doesn't affect your efficiency with waepons at all.
Weapon specialisation effects how effective you are with certain weapons, if you use Carsomyr with a hasted level 13 fighter who isn't even proficient in 2-handed swords you get only 2 attacks per round which also have a to hit penalty.
If he's specialized (++) he gets 5 instead of 2 attacks per round, as well as a bonus to hit and damage.
The GWW HLA is what allows you to use weapons you aren't proficient with somewhat efficiently because of the 10 attacks per round, but you still hit worse and you'll have to use this HLA each round you want to be more effective than a non-warrior.
Which Should I Use? Spoilerish
you could use the long swords you would not be able to use usually
maybe two handed swords are a better example
as a fighter you are able to use them anyways
BUT not certain swords like caromyr cuz u need to be a paladin for it and with uai you will be able to use it
it is just for the ability to USE, not to use something properly

I think it's time we dropped the topic as the opinnions have been given and we're no longer talking about weapon choice but weapon proficiencies and abilities instead.

"Just a proof how overpowered ToB HLAs are in SoA"
Why do you think they belong to TOB? Any small party can get them in SOA.
My usual party of up to three get them by the Underdark. All you have to do is all available quests.
I should think that, even with a big party, if you do Watchers Keep, you`ll have them before meeting Irenicus.

ToB makes SoA easier by removing the level cap as well as allowing high level abilities which are intended for ToB.
