Undead Soalufein SPOILER

Post by Qeed »

Hello!

I've installed the latest Solaufein mod and I'm confronting Bodhi for the third time in the game. I have help from Drizzt.

Solaufein is now turned to Vampire and is fighting for Bodhi. Unfortunatly, Solaufein is REALLY hard! He begins with one gazillion buffs. Even when i slept and then came back so all the buffs were gone he was immune to any damage i gave him, Magicall, Blunt, piercing, slashing. You name it. Not even Ring of the Ram managed to hurt him.

If anyone has beat this battle - please tell me your tactics, because I don't know how to do it. FYI I have no other mods than Solaufein an the Baldurdash fixmod installed.

Thanks

He starts with a gazellion buffs, so you need a gazellion dispels/removals/lowerers. :P His only advantage over a fighter/mage is really his innate high magical resistance.

I read somewhere that he has an custom made stoneskin buff whitch cannot be dispelled, It says: "Immune to damage" when you try to hit him with waeponds...

Also, he only needs 2 or 3 hits to kill one of my partymembers... Immunity to Magical Weaponds reverse this but it only lasts 4 rounds :( ... I have cast 6 lower resistence spells on him but still cant hit him with magic...

Breach don't seem to do anything...

He most likely uses some cheesy Spell Immunity then, otherwise magic would hit him. Try Ruby Ray of Reversal or a Rod of Spellstrike/Breach to get past his magic defenses. Oh yeah, he has innate magical resistance as well, so a few Lower MR is needed.

I hardly believe that he'd use custom made spells when the ones already in the games are enough to to some insane defensive stuff. I've heard he's scripted with 254 Pro-MW though, so hitting him with magical weapons will be hard. ^^

Try casting Ruby Ray and beating on him with non-magical weapons?

Also tried that - It seems that non-magical is the right tactic, It no longer says Immun to damage, now it says Weapond ineffective. (or maybe thats worse? :O)
I tried a spellstrike along with breach and RubyRay and it didn't happend much... I read somewhere that you should kill bodhi first but Solaufein keeps teleporting to my PC if he is out of sight... The guide stated that you should mass invis and then with a dubblehasted char run down the corridor and around the corner, then he will follow and then drinka Potion of Invisibillity, then leave him there so his stoneskin buff wears off. You cant sleep it off because he casts it as fast as you see him.
But, it don't seem to work for me because he can see invisible characters. The guide maybe old and i have a late update of the mod...

I’ve only play Sola a little, and have never made it that far. Sola seems overpowered and is now incompatible with Improved Anvil. So, my advice is NOT based on first hand experience. From what you are describing, it sounds like Sola has lich traits (immune to spells of level 5 and less and immune to normal weapons). If that is the case, you have to use things like Ruby Ray, Pierce Shield, and Spell Strike. I think Spell Strike (even from a scroll) would be an excellent start. Hopefully, his Protection from Magical Weapons spell/scroll supply is not really inexhaustible. With enough Pierce Shields, you should be able to bomb him with magic even if he does keep up PfMW. Also, you can use any spell that is not subject to magical resistance (and is greater than level 5) at any time – as long as his other buffs do not protect him from its effects.

Oh, and dispel/remove magic should also have a chance of working (unless Sola is 4 levels or more higher than you are).

Definetly remove/dispell magic works, better if you have inquisitor to cast it.
He doesn't have strange spells, but only uses well normal mage spells (make to think how poorly we play to be surprised of how hard is to beat a well managed char). He is imp. invisible so you can't target him with spells, has spell immunity div. so you can't true sight him, has PfmW/stoneskin and possibly spell immuniti abj so most dispelling spells doesn't work. ruby ray does, but first you have to dispell the imp. inv. to target him. AoE spells don't need to be targeted to be effective, but he has high MR, but sunfire bypass MR so use it (have your char well protected from fire), put 3 in a trigger and see what happens. Dispell/remove magic are AoE spell so they don't need to be targeted.
If you have access to Chain contingency you can memorize remove magic/remove magic/ruby ray and set to see enemy/nearest enemy when he is close to you, they will hit him even if is invisible.

Use tactics to your advantage, don't confront all enemy toghether, split them: have Sola follow you out of bodhi'room and close the door, you can deal with him alone.
It's a hard fight, but not the hardest.
