if someone goes into hide
and your walking to an enemy he will do a spot check(or hear, anyway the ability to hear a hidden person)
how does it work combat wise..
is the check done on the hidden person each round or if a persons fails the check he will never see the person.
(same with appraise skill) is only checked once IIRC
thanks for the help

Once per round, and it's spot for hide, and listen for move silently. But this is effective for rogues who sneak attack and have a high move silently/hide check, as you can sneak up behind your opponent and catch them immediately flat footed.is the check done on the hidden person each round or if a persons fails the check he will never see the person.

Meh suit your self, but it's actually a decent tactic for many rogues, monks, and stealth characters.Da_venom wrote:also not a very good investment then

the game isn't really build for that. at least not in my opinion..
if you were playing bg or iwd it would be. but in nwn it's just out of place.
since your henchman will mostly likely make it a disaster
and if your working without one it requires a bunch of luck to make everything sweet and smooth. almost all enemies are grouped..
which makes the ability quite limited.
also makes the game take a lot longer cause you will hide attack and retreat and repeat it.
while you could do it with ranged way quicker and takes less time ^^

Quite the contrary, it's Baldurs gate and Icewind dale that are worse for sneaking tactics than NWN (considering 2nd edition rules). However, if it's henchmen that you're having a problem with, you do have the ability to tell them to stand still while you scout.
Not to mention, the hide retreat tactic is preferable by many players. Who's to say that the game is supposed to be quick in length, sometimes players like to savor their options and utilize all of there abilities (which by taking there time in turn makes them nearly twice as powerful as a character who just runs through with nothing but a weapon and some heal potions).

who ever said i ran through things?;-)
i hardly have to use potions my henchmen never die (they haven't yet at least
)
playing this game on hardest difficulty
with all my chars
fighter
wizard
rogue
and soon more to be added
every class has it's unique abilities to complete the game.
i think the fighter is more most noobies and not caring for the storyline or optimizing their quest(since char has to be cut to get a good fighter)
oh well all the classes i have are quite easy..
think palading or monk/ranger would require more skill
since they need some high char or wisdom
think paladin would be the most hard class since it need char wisdom and ofc strenght and dex and con ^^
going to try a paladin someday always found them a bit weak ^^
hiding and ttacking isn't just my way of playing

a level of shadowdancer can help a hiding character.
