sleight problem...

Post by Clifford »

i am soloing a pure cleric through the series, i am currently in durlags tower on the last level, i have come all this way for one reason, the staff of striking...now even with my cleric buffed up to 23 strength i can not open that chest!!! is there a way to do this without a theif or knock? if not, i would be willing to cheat it in, but i did the add "Cheats=1" deal to the .ini file and i cant get the console to come up, is there a different way to do it in tutu? basically how can i get this staff into my inventory?

thanks for your help!

As far as I know there is no other way to open your chest.
If you want to cheat the weapon in you want the SoA cheats for tutu if I recall correctly. There is a sticky thread in the SoA forum. Should you still need to use BG1 cheats there is a sticky thread for that in this forum.

There's a potion in the game which sets str to 25 and dex and con to 3. Maybe this will work.

If you've cleared the way, you could always go back and grab a thief, return to the tower, have them open the chest, and then send them on their way.

In terms of using cheats in Tutu, You need to modify the BG Tutu badur.ini file. Make sure you're modifying it, rather than the BG or BG2 file. You need to use the BG2 commands. So put Debug Mode=1 right under [Program Options]; that's basically the second line of the .ini file. After you get the .ini sorted, you would need to press CTRL+SPACE to access the console command line instead of the CTRL+TAB of BG1. (I think I have that right. Back it up, just in case!)
