Chapter IV: The Basilisk contract

Post by nocturn »

Well, the problem is I went to Black Tern island first, killed the basilisks, and then saw the contract on the notice board outside the inn. But when I go back to Black Tern island there are no basilisks left to kill (sure useless drowners can respawn, but not basilisks...), no matter what time I visit the place or how many times I "reload" the area. Is there any way for me to complete the contract, or these poor medieval lasses will have to do without near-extinct basilisk leather purses?

I don't think the basilisks ever come back to the cave. But if you sold their hides, they should still be with the shopkeeper you sold them to.

Unfortunately, I didn't have much room in my inventory back then so I just left their hides there and they disappeared (probably another Lady-of-the-Lake-peeper took'em).
But the basilisks were not in any cave... They were at the eastern part of the island close to the Axii power-up. Is there another group, or are those the ones you meant?

I don't recall any groups other than that one. I had this same problem on my first playthrough and I sold the drops somewhere, couldn't buy em back later. I believe you're essentially screwed.

Thanks for backing up my initial conclusion mate... It's reassuring to know this has also happened to someone else. Well, unless there's more advice to be offered, I'm gonna mourn over the lost experience points and move on to chapter V.

SAVE THE BASILISKS.

Oops, I was thinking of the cockatrices in the cave in chapter 3.

That one spot on the island is the only place you find them, but I can't remember if they come back or not. Have you tried meditating off the island for 24 hours and then coming back? If you see new wyverns spawn but no basilisks, then they probably don't come back.

the basilisks dont respawn, i explored chapter IV for more than 2 times (try to get lvl 50 :D ) to kill everything (even if i get 1xp), and didnt saw any other basilisk than that ones. Other mobs do respawn like alps, devoures, wywern, noonwraith etc...

well mate...I guess it's your bad luck because basilisks are rare finding creatures and only appear once. Since this quest is optional so you don't have to worry, i mean, just continue to chapter V. After finish the game, then try again in harder level. Good luck mate
