Built in cheats - MAJOR SPOILERS

Post by galraen »

I mean, I already knew that the game cheated, but not how blatantly, or how badly until now.

So I'm visiting Candlekeep in Chapter six, I avoid getting into a fight with the Iron Crown dudes, and move on up to the top floor, not having spoken to Sarevok (so no planted 'evidence'). Now as it happens I have a protection from magic going, so when the guy tells me I'm under arrest, I refuse to surrender, I then get a Flamestrike on me which kills me instantly!!!! The Protection from Magic is still going, but the game kills me with magic anyway!!! Talk about blatantly cheating, just to make up for shoddy game design.

So what built in cheats have ticked you off?

I actually prefered the Flamestrike over Arkanis Gath. I mean, it's quite cheesy that some random rogue in Athkatla just happens to have a swords that always kills whatever it hits. And doesn't use it for better use than to work for the shadow thieves. Ambition, someone?

Anyway, I really don't mind those "cheats". The world is free enough as it is already, I can understand how they sometimes have to "force decisions."

Besides, it almost always happens when you do something really weird, like try to kill Gorion for no reason. In your case, it's not so weird though, and actually kinda lame. I could've sworn refusing just didn't help and that you were put in jail anyway. Well, guess my memory's kinda off...

Yeah, Gath ticks me off too. What I can't understand about the one I ranted about in my first post, is why?? Why should it matter whether you fight your way out the front door or the back door? You don't get any evidence going out the back way that makes any difference, you still have to get it back in the Gate, so it amounts to nothing more than petulance on the part of the designers.
