Lich - he followed me out

Post by Sensei »

Hi

Something funny happen to me while fighting the lich at the dock district:

I was at the dock district planning on getting the other part of the Kangaxx body - and so I went to battle the Lich here - he proved to be really quite powerful - and so I ran away - BUT he chased me - right out of the crypt, out of the house and into the streets. So i had to fight him on the streets and then the Cowled mages came (since my party started throwing magic and summoning thnings) - unfortunately it was the first time meeting me so they did not attack me - and I killed the lich with what I summoned just as they teleported in - I was wondering has anyone else had the Dock District Lich follow them out and into the streets?

And what would have happened if the Lich (still able to spell cast) was throwing arcane spells while the Cowled wizards showed up?

Just an interesting thing that happened to me while playing that I wanted to share.

Funny story, don't recall anything like this happening to me. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the cowled wizards are scripted in such a way to only respond to you casting spells.

I've had enemy summoned demons follow me out into the streets, namely in the Bridge district. Unfortunately, one of them killed several merchants and a few characters important to the Tanner Quest, so I needed to reload. :D

If an enemy has the command to attack you, he will follow you everywhere you don't requite a loading screen, so to speak. Liches tends to use spells most of the time, so they rarely follow. I've had my Crooked Cane lich following me to the Athkatla streets though...

watch out for duplicated villains -when they follow you across a boundary and you kill them, they are often still waiting for you in the room they came from.

which is rather handy sometimes...

Only if you don't have the latest patch.

I remember I was going solo on a certain quest and was fighting two stone golems and I had needed a breather to recast some spells, so I exited through the door and tried to get more stoneskins up. However when I exited I found two the stone golems followed me, so I quickly returned to previous area to find two golems already waiting for me, suddenly they were joined by two more.

So I repeated and went back and found two other stone golems waiting for me in the other room, quickly joined by another four golems for a nice total of six.

I reloaded.

A similar thing to Sensai's experience happened to me in the gate district. The lich followed me into the Inn. You can actually use this to your advantage outside the city. Enemies will follow you outside where you can use lightning strike. Sometimes you can split an enemy party this way and take on fewer at a time.

If bad guys are carrying good equipment this can be quite a boon, just so long as you can defeat them!!

During my first playthroughs, I had Kangaxx follow me out into the Docks District in his Demilich form. I've never returned to Docks since that game. I'd like to think that I doomed Faerun.

It's a shame to think that none of the Cowled Wizards would do anything about Kangaxx either.

Isn't the duplication thing fixed by the patch for Throne of Bhaal?

That's nothing. I once had to take a bathroom break during the demilich battle. Kangaxx knocked on the door, I was barely able to lock it in time. Heh, it was a good thing I was already sitting on the toilet.

A helpful hint, if you go in with a thief, attack, leave and hide as soon as you exit, you will not be followed out.
I've had similar experiences playing Tutu, some amusing, some quite helpful, some downright dangerous.
Karlat followed me outside once whereupon he was killed by the mage outside.

Too bad about that cheese. I would have liked it better if the lich/whatever followed you out depending upon its intelligence, aggression level, and/or senses. Then if you couldn't find you, it might start to search. Imagine the thrill of horror as something like that used its nose to find what couldn't be seen, then started to toy with you. :D
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

When facing multiple liches, I think that using cheese is a perfectly acceptable tactic. After all, it is a bug in the programming.
Besides which there's nothing quite like a nice bit of Wensleydale as Wallace would say.
