[help] Clean install + fixes only

Post by galtzaiLe »

Hi all! First time on the BG subforums!

I've reading through this forums a lot, but the more i read the more confused i am. Lots and lots of mods to install and to choose from.

I just get the Baldur's Gate 4 in 1 Boxset, and i want to play the whole saga with no (or at least minimal) modifications to the original game, only bug fixes at least one time. Then will be the time to modifications.

Should i install BG, BG:ToSC, BG2 and BG2:SoA with the official patches and the BG2_Fixpack-v6? From what i read, this is an improvement of the Baldurdash FixPack v3.61.

I also read about the widescreen-v1, and i liked the idea of play the game in a higher resolution (1024 x 768 for me hehe).

Is this the correct order of installation?
 1. Baldur's Gate
 2. Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast
 3. Baldur's Gate official patches
 4. Baldur's Gate II
 5. Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Baal
 6. Baldur's Gate II: official patches
 7. BG2_Fixpack-v6
 8. Baldur's Gate widescreen-v1
Well, thanks for reading and sorry for so many questions :x

PS: Sorry for my lousy english.

First off, galtzaiLe, welcome to the BG2 forums--but please, don't bump your threads. If someone doesn't answer in an hour, maybe they will in 90 minutes...or a day. It takes time. If you can't wait, you might try the Bioware forums, though I can't guarantee they'll be any quicker. Meanwhile, your post is still here, and will be seen by people who frequent the forum.

Also remember to use the search function. The FixPack question has been asked, and answered, before. (FixPack has been discussed in some depth.) Saves you time waiting for others to reply, by checking there.

My opinion? Install widescreen before the FixPack. The developers of the latter state that in almost all cases it should go last.

Good luck, and have fun.

@ Fable - Fixpack should never go last. I think you confused it with Tweakpack.

@galtzaiLe - your order is fine.

Ronin69hof--You're right, I was thinking of Tweakpack. FixPack is like the old Baldurdash fixpack, in that it always directly follows the official patches. Thanks for catching that.
