Dynamic duo's

Post by Coot »

In another thread, Fezek suggested that a 'dynamic duo', a Shapeshifter and Jester, could be made to play through the game. I realized that we've had many threads about soloing, but not too many, if any, about duoing.
I've played BG six or seven times, I believe, and although it remains one of my favorite games I wasn't going to play another time. This duo thing sort of got me interested again though.
A Fighter/Thief and Mage/Cleric would maybe be a bit too obvious but you could maybe have a Wild Mage and a Cleric or a Beastmaster and a Totemic druid or Conjurer. You could make the original Dynamic Duo, Batman & Robin.
Have you ever duoed BG1, SoA or ToB? What would be interesting combo's? Would you prefer two pc's or a pc and a npc?

Anything with a sorcerer. Like, an Insuisitor.

Duos are so boring. Trios are WAY more fun.

I've tried a dwarf F/T and an elf Sorcerer.

It was boring b/c it was so easy.

A F/M/T with Jaheira was pretty cool, and I've done a Gnome F/T with Aerie (for the romance). It's fun.

I guess my issue is that I try too hard to cover all the bases, when the fun of soloing is that you have to face challenges you otherwise would be much better suited to face.

That's why a Shapeshifter and Jester could probably be fun.
