Been about a week since I've played, so, I cant exactly remember the names of the monsters, however, the ones I'm speaking of are the undead shadow dudes. There are like, 6 of them total, Garius? maybe is his name, is one as well, towards the end of the game. Master of the 5th tower dude.
Anyway, the solo ones are easy enough, but as your travelling along, almost to the end fight, you have to fight 3 at a time. Now, I pretty much breezed through the entire game, up until this point. Seemed like no matter what I did, the person reading the true name would get interuppted. Which in effect, would force me to go and do it manually, which was a little annoying. I ended up cheating my characters out to 50 in every stat, and still had a hell of a time beating them. Came down to blahblah gnomehands, and the lizard cleric left alive. gnomehands pretty much tanked 2 of them at once, while I manually read the true name scroll from a distance ( they do some crazy AoE that fubars ya almost every time ).
I eventually beat them this way. Reset my stats back to normal, and then beat the game.
I love NWN2, dont get me wrong, but games completely unbalanced in 1 area really lose alot of face to me. 90% through the game - Normal, not too bad. Last 10% insanely difficult.
Maybe it was my setup, or because I tend to leave my NPC's to do their own thing, but regardless, I think that fight was overly challenging.
Anyone else feel like smashing their keyboard at this fight?

Took me awhile getting used to those guys too (even the single ones). I had thought I cast the true name but turns out I was just too impatient and didn't know the animation for when it actually finished casting. Even after that, though, it always felt like they'd stop casting it for whatever reason unless I stayed on that character.
Those fights would be much less annoying without having to use the true name but then they'd probably be way too easy.

This was the second toughest fight for me. The dragon on the fire mountain was the toughest.
Anyway, I don't think Z made a successful concentration check during the entire game, so she was almost worthless trying to do the true name ritual. When I finally beat the encounter, I put a melee character on each bad guy, and I put Z way by herself where should could recite in peace. AJ, meanwhile, was able to take all sorts of abuse, and I left him where he was. I think as long as you stay with the character until they get that white glow around them, they'll complete the ritual.

I found the game too easy even if I played on Very Hard (the one with 200% dmg form NPCs). The dragon on the mountain was the hardest fight folowed by the three reavers. But I had much more truble getting trough the ruins before them, as i couldn't rest (shadows spawned on resting)! So I had to lower the difficoulty in order to rest safely and then raised it back again for the reaver fight. The boss after that was again too easy and died in the first try...
PS: the reciting is a little weird and you have to keep an eye on the caracther if you want to know if he did anything or not

Mhm... didn't find that fight too difficult actually. Just go back up the stairs, spread your party, keep the desginated scroll reader out of combat(of course you have to read the scroll manually), do a lot of running around, cast distracting spells like Darkness, etc. Once you are finished reading the name of the first reaver, focus and kill him. Then the second, and finally the third.

I have already spent three hours with the reavers
I have khelgar, ammon, the lizard lady and the contruct. I have no healing stuff even after I raid the bodies I have about 66 total hit points that I can put back on the construct. No body else has any healing. The construct helped me significantly in the other sections but is of no help here. If I try to rest, everybody loses more hit points then they gain. I start everyone and take over AJ and he doesn't ever get through the first name and if he does he needs to d the dirty work. I have one life left on the rod of resurrection.
I have a ring of regeneration that works with everyone but the construct so I am starting at full hitpoints except with the construct.
I am a wizard and all my spells are used up and I can't rest to restore them (which is very frustrating to play the whole game with a full spell complement and then in the toughest fight not have the spells available.). I can summon earth and fire elementals but they just fight the ones the reavers summon.
I skipped the dragon fight because I wasn't even getting to barely injured so I just killed the fire giants and got on with life.
I have no idea how I am going to figure this out without cheating. I haven't done it to this point but its very frustrating this close to the end of the game and not being able to face the shadow king.
Now I have to learn how to cheat before I can get past these guys.
I have read the other posts and have tried everything else. If you think you can help I would be glad to hear about it. I guess I wills search on how to use the console. Probably try to get the construct back to full health and see if that works. Then add my spells back before I go crazy with stats or anything.

So far as I know, this should work: save your game, rest, and if you get attacked, load. Eventually you should make it through.

Health Restored, but no spells
Thanks for the tip. the construct is now at full hitpoints but I didn't get any of my spells back. I am going to try a few times the way it is to see if I can make any reavers disappear.
If you have any thoughts regarding how I get my spells back I would appreciate it. I have some meteor storms that would probably work once there true names are read.

I finally got by, but a caught a few breaks
I loaded MOBT before I tried this again which caused some different things to happen. One was that I had no control over behavior in the Character tab. No buttons checked and nothing happened when I clicked on them.
The break that I caught is that after the second reaver had his true name read he ran back to the reaver standing to the right of the of the bridge. Once he did that the fighting stopped. All my folks were at the intial entry spot. I was able to add hit points back to three of the folks still alive, one being the lizard lady, whom I used to read the third reavers name while nobody was fighting and she got through it. The construct took no damage during this time and flayed the reavers.
On to Garius. Thanks everyone for their help. Even though this was a pain in the posterior fight, I learned alot about how the companion system works and all of the neat things you can do with your pals!
The funniest thing is my character was dead after about 5 seconds and was never back again even during the break in the fighting.

Final fight was hard indeed but not impossible. Healing is a key factor (in my battle) so I loaded up Z with heal spells and let my monk, the dwarf, Jerro go nuts - iirc you've already said Garius true name so there isnt a need to do it again? Unless you're talking about the 3 shadow reavers?
That was the last time I remember using the True Name scroll and in that case it was just a matter of tanking them on the bridge so that they couldnt reach Ammon, lastly I believe she will fail the check everytime so let ammon do it - I think this is why its mandatory for those two 2 be with you - all u have to do is provide the tank.
Now the red dragon - forget it. I was easier for me to loot the hoarde while he killed 3 members, run out rez and repeat than to beat him. My 2nd run Im going to beat his ass but for my first run I unfortunately just went with the recommended stats/feats
Needless to say, when I saw the 2 black dragons later on I was even more sad about all the missed loot from these 3 beasts - can anyone list their loot?
