NPC Irenicus

Post by Daxtreme »

I was reading http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/baldu ... 13117.html

and thought it would be great to play Irenicus. :D

Anybody has any idea where I could find the mod? I searched and searched and searched, nothing. I don't want to play him in ToB, I want to play him in SoA. ;)

Thanks in advance!

The only mod available is for ToB and it is called The Longer Road and is hosted here, at Spellhold Studios:

Spellhold Studios -> Longer Road

It's a very good mod, but it is fairly verboise.

The mods those old posts reffered to are not hosted anywhere. They were just simple files dropped in the Override and summoned with Clua. You can probably do just the same with one of the Irenicus' stock CREs. Or you can do the same with ToB Irenicus, but he'll be level 30, and offhand will probably have problems with his dialogues.

Because if you're a power player, he's got a great deal of power, and if you're an RPGer, he's a fascinating case of ambition brought low, through only limited fault of his own.
It's a very good mod, but it is fairly verboise.
I personally don't find it verbose, but appropriate for the character and his personal trials--still, each to their own. It's very well done, in my opinion. :)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I'm curious as to *how* exactly I am a newb. I personally played through BG2 countless of times and don't consider myself as one as I don't need the help of Irenicus to play through the game.

If I want a powerful mage in my party I'll just import my level 40 one.

What happened to that mod in which you encountered Irenicus in the Government District of Athkatla?

As far as I know, Irenicus is way more powerful than any mage of equal or slightly higher level of experience, because he has bonus +4 spell slots per level and can wear the Amulet of Power + Robe of Vecna(compared to Edwin who has only +2 slots and his amulet space is occupied). Besides, the 40-th level mage is somewhat cheating since you've removed the xp cap to achieve it. Maybe only the NPC sorcerers, Tashia and Kelsey, are of equal power compared to Irenicus.
