flame the noob (question about special abilities)
flame the noob (question about special abilities)
I just started playing this game and I love it. However I suddenly noticed that I cannot use Aerie's special abilities anymore. WTH? I'm only 13 days into the game. I saw some other posts pertaining to this and they were talking about spell sequencers or something but I have no idea what any of that means.
how can I get all of her abilities back??? Thanks. Sorry for the newbishness

Hi nerdherd
Exactly what "special abilities" do you mean? As i remember, Aerie only abilities are the ones of her clases (mage/cleric), for example heal light wounds, magic missiles, blessing ... If you mean this abilities, you have to go to her spellbook and select each one you have ( if you haven't already, you might have the default ones). And once you used a certain spell the maximum number of times you "selected it" (memorization counts) you can't use it again until you have a full rest (no bandits, no monsters, no guards waking you up).
Hope this clears things up a little
Cheers!!!

aerie doesn't have any special abilities, only spells. the button for spells looks like a moon and stars, i think. spell sequencer is a spell, which she probably isn't of a high enough level to use yet. as she gains levels, she will be able to use more and more spells (and a unique combination, due to her class)
so her special abilities tab - the star - is correctly greyed out.
as aran linvail said, to choose aerie's spells, select them from her spell book or priest scroll. as a mage/cleric, she has both. you then need to rest before they are actually usable, and after casting them, she needs to rest before casting them again.
hope that clears things up a bit.

Whilst she can only be level 6/6, in my experience she's usually 7/7 when I meet her, or even higher. Which means she is usually high enough level to cast Spell Sequencer. She doesn't start out with that spell however, so unless shee's learned it since she joine up there should never have been an instance where she had a special ability, because she doesn't get any that aren't spell instigated, unless she had an item equipped, such as the Cloak of the Sewer, that grants a special ability.

I meant minor spell sequencer, sorry. The Cloak of the Sewer allows you to polymorph into a Troll, I believe the transition back uses the special effect button. Not sure about the initial transition though.mcgregor wrote:spell sequencer is a level 7 spell, so wouldn't it require a level 14 mage to cast it? or have i got that completely wrong?
also, i thought that special abilities from items were accessible through a third tab, which looks a bit like a rucksack?
