Most Useless NPC?

Post by DarthMalevolent »

I don't really mean useless, but the ones you never or almost never take with you.

Personally, I never take Mandalore with me unless there's a quest I need him to complete (like recruiting Mandalorians) GO-TO, HK-47 and T3-M3 all stay on board the Ebon Hawk.

A fairly redundant poll I suspect, I can't see many (if any) people voting for anyone other than GoTo. It could be interesting just to see if anyone does vote for someone else, or if it's totally one sided.

Personally I'd vote for GoTo as being the most useless and pointless NPC ever created in any game since CRPGs began. Your missing out by not using HK47 and T3-M3 IMO though, I guess you must be a Robotist.:mischief:

That's sort of what I want to see. I'm betting it's going to be led overwhelmingly by GO-TO, but I'm wondering if anybody uses him.

I've used HK-47 and T3-M3 in the past, but I've never really found anything that they could do significantly better than other characters that are better in combat.

G0-T0 is actually quite interesting if you actually use him, and he's extremely well written once you get enough influence with him to get his backstory.

I voted Disciple, since he's bland and boring.

Interestingly, so far only 57% of the vote goes to GO-TO.

I hate GO-TO's personality and I hate using him to begin with. Most pointless and most annoying character ever created....oh and Kreia tops the list too.

GO-TO. Never liked that guy in the first place. :p

He's still the clear leader though. :)

I don't like Disciple either, but if you're playing a female he's the only romantic alternative to slimeball, so he does serve some purpose!

Are you kidding me?! No self-respecting female would take that wishy-washy sissy over a "bad boy", particularly one who was a combat vet.

I don't know what problem people have with GO-TO.
He is far more useful in combat than T3 and only insignificant worse with skills. Also, his "fly through grenades" ability is the reason I occasionally took him for the Freedon Nadd mission. And he has more personality than T3 who is a straight R2D2 copy.
I voted Disciple.

To be honest, I'd say ANY ranged weapon NPC is useless. Ranged weapons, even with upgrades, are way inferior to melee weapons or Force powers IMHO. This applies to all the droids. Another problem with droids is that their armour is usally nowhere near as good as human armour, particularly because it can't be upgraded.

For these reasons ALL the droids seem pretty useless to me. I swap them into my parties only briefly in order to gain an influence point from them, then swap them out again. Since T3 and HK give VERY nice rewards for getting 90 influence, they do have some purpose.

Heh... Since I've NEVER played either of the KotOR-games as a darksider, then Hanharr obviously is the one I've used the least, since I've never had him in my team. at least GO-TO gets of the Hawk for the occasional level up. :D

i never take droids and always have kreia in my party for the exp bonus(shes very annoying however) and i only ever use atton(jedi), handmaiden(jedi), visas(if no one else is a jedi or if i dont have hanharr to bash my enemies). i sometimes use bao dur(so i dont need skills myself), but rather not in combat. HK can be fun, but only if youre darkside(he always says stuff like "good idea, master" when you suggest killing someone:laugh :) . i never take disciple because hes weak and boring, same goes for mira, who is absolutely useless.

I never use T3-M4. Well, I do when I have to, like in Vogga's warehouse, but apart from that he stays on the ship. There really aren't enough skills for me to need him - between Atton, Kreia, myself, Bao-dur and Mira, I've got everything covered for computers, worktables, lab stations, disabling mines etc. Plus, all my organic allies can use medpacks and be affected by force heal, so I don't have to blow money on repair kits.

That basically goes for all my droid allies - I only use them when I have to or when there's an influence point (I like to have high influence with everybody). If they make a KotOR 3, they need to make droids special in some way, like with droid-specific abilities or something.

to me, G0-T0s only good when you go to the Dxun sith tomb when he can sneak over the mines and disable the sensor thingy

I appreciate GO-TO's backstory and personality ("Well, maybe if you'd stop destroying planets..."), but I can't really remember using him much. Or, uh, ever. And not just because I'm rather set in my ways of bringing characters like Atton or Visas, or because I usually find T3 and HK a more solid combo if I'm feeling droidy. Or because it's tricky getting him to like you without gaining any DS points. Or even because it irritates me that he makes things difficult getting fuel to Telos.

Though now that I think of it, those're compelling enough reasons...

G0-T0 just stays on board the Ebon Hawk for me. I've only ever used him once which is on Malachor 5. :)

Personally, I never used HK, G0-T0 or Mandalore if not forced to (as I prefer the light side). The other characters are as good in sneaking and fighting - even better, as they're all jedi *g*

Despite apparent popularity with Kreia (seen from the two votes... one belonging to me), I have chosen her as the most useless. Became very boring having her tag along, although her powers exceed most of the others (besides the Exile of course). I beat the game without really requiring her, and didn't enjoy having a traitorous old hag in my sight.. :(

I never use Goto because he's... useless. HK is much better at killing things and T3 has more skills. Goto is useless and there aren't enough droids in the game for his abilities to matter. Actually, there are plenty of droids in the game, but they come before you even meet Goto, futher rendering him as useless.

I always use Kreia if only for the 10% experience bonus which can actually get you quite a few levels. Without Kreia, it is only possible to get to level 26-28 by doing everything possible to gather exp. Besides, I usally play Dark Side, so I can easily gain influence and dark side points in every conversation with her. Two birds with one stone.
