Vista graphics problems

Post by secutor »

Just put BG and BG2 on my vista. BG2 runs well, there are some minor graphics glitches, most notably a grid-like pattern that sometimes breaks up the screen, or little square outlines about the character animations. Nothing that can't be ignored.

BG1, on the other hand, has similar graphics issues associated with the animations, but they're much more noticeable. One of the most annoying is this duping thing in the inventory where item icons will overlap each other, or pieces of equipment, when equipped, will mess up the character's paperdoll model in the inv. screen. Certain death animations are pretty whacked out too. I could get some screens if need be, but if anybody's having this problem or knows a way to fix it, I'd be much obliged, because it's all becoming most trying on the eyes.

Turned on software standard blt, bugs are fixed for BG1.

Thanks me.

:)

EDIT - This causes FPS slowdown ; looking for a way to balance this out.

Well, it looks like the standard blt fixes the issues, but map exploring (moving through dark areas or areas with fog) causes framerate issues, no matter how much cache I give the game. Right now, I'm alternating between blt on and blt off, depending on if I'm on the map or in the inventory.

Does anybody know how to boost this game's performance under the standard blt setting, or get rid of these graphics problems without turning standard blt on?

i had that issue too, i also ended up playing with the screen resolution. unfortunately i cant remember what mine is set on at the moment. just keep tweeking around and you will get it..... just remember what you did or write it down in case you have to undo a few thing and forgot what you did, lol. i had to write stuff down myself.

good luck
