Doubt importing BG1 Char

Post by Aran Linvail »

Hey, i decided to make my first do-it-all run of the bg series!!! i've just finished bg1+tosc, and just now i have imported my 8th lvl fighter (turned to Kensai). He has the following stats:

Strength 18
Dextery 17
Constitution 17
Intelligence 18
Wisdom 13
Charisma 19

I just killed sarevock, and there i had 78 or so HP. Now, when i started the new bg2 game after importing, turns out i have..58 HP!!! so...i was wondering...am i cursed? lol, because that's kind of a LOT of HP loss for a fighter (specially considering i wanted to dual to wizard at lvl 9 with very high Hp :s) so...
is there a way to fix this beyond Shadowkeeper? and, do you know WHY this lowered this much?
THanks a lo in advance ^^

Once again, I see my ever-famous discovery (that I posted in the FAQ) coming into play.

A: Export your desired character in a character file other than Char1. After that, save that character file through the BG2 character viewer into BG2. Finally, import said character file into a new BG2 game. Presto! You're character's at the very experience - and level - that you had in BG1! ;)
Dungeon Crawl Inc.: It's the most fun you can have without 3 midgets and a whip! Character stats made by your's truly!

Thanks. Now I know why I found it so difficult, this last time I played. I have always used your method in the past, and just hadn't noticed the stats difference. Maybe that's why it kept me interested enough to finish it ! :D

wow!! i will be reading faq very closely right now :P

mm, on a closer look, the problem is not quite solved.. i mean, the exp and lvl where right all the time, the problem was the HP, that lowered a lot from game to game :s
This is what i did:
I changed char1 name for another (Matias.char i think). THen i copied to characters folder in bg2 the file, and then imnported the caracther in a new game. After that, i started, and had the HP lowered :s

EDIT: i have just tried exactly what you mentioned in the FAQ Galuf, but all i got was a TXT file saved in bg2 char folder !!! and, as i figured, couldn't import it from there when i started a new bg2 game :s

This is really getting on my nerves....
