Need help with combat situation.

Post by Fullerton »

I bought Dungeon Lords, Collector's Edition a couple of days ago. Now I find that I have problems.
I have a fighter. I have also found scrolls with fireballs. I was facing a bunch of skeletons, so I figured a fireball down the hallway would be nice. I had the scrolls on fast button #4. I cast my first fireball, and the quick magic window opened up. Once that happened, I found that I couldn't use my melee weapon. Every time I left clicked on my mouse, it cast a fireball. When I ran out of fireballs, I still couldn't attack, so I had to stand there until I died.

I have also had this problem with a mage. I cast a spell, and found I couldn't use my melee weapon until I cast every spell I could. Then it freed up my melee weapon.

Does any know of any way out of this problem? I did a quick save and quit the game, and when I went back into the game, I still had the same problems.

Thank you

you need to switch back to your melee weapon. My button is "Q", you can put yours to whatever you want. Also, once you have your melee weapon you can "Q" switch back and forth to your ranged attack (bow, throwing knives, etc.)

Thank you. I new the 'Q' button switched between melee and ranged weapons, but had no idea it was needed for switching between spells and melee combat.

(I am so embarrassed that I couldn't figure this out.)

By default, Q is primarily used to switch between your melee and ranged weapons, but can be used to switch back from magic. F is the default button to switch to (and from) magic.

You can view the default controls in game by pressing the / key. Just remember if you make any changes (try to make your changes intuitive; I changed my inventory screen key to I from E), they won't be shown in the / menu - that will always show default controls.
