Okay, so the coroner determined the "feet" were not those of missing people. Well, then, there could still be a case for animal cruelty or such, I think. Maybe something related to offending local peace instead or in addition.

Only if the feet didn't simply grow on their own. That has yet to be disproven.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

True. For all you know, they're somebody's trophy paws that somebody decided to use for an obnoxious purpose.

I'm also starting to get the feeling that we're dealing with either a troublemaker or somebody's who's absolutely insane.

Who could've guessed that would make the news internationally though. No strike that, who could have guessed that would have made the news at all? For a prank it's kind of stupid. It's not even bomb. The fire department didn't have to mobilize. Public order wasn't disturbed. If the terrorists had been responsible for this, would you ever have known?

And then there were six? (again)

Sixth severed foot washes up on B.C. shore
Richmond couple finds New Balance shoe along south shore of Fraser River
Vancouver Sun
Published: Wednesday, November 12, 2008

METRO VANCOUVER - The RCMP is confirming that a left shoe was found and turned over to the Richmond RCMP detachment Tuesday afternoon.

"Yesterday morning a Richmond couple did find a running shoe with what appears to be remains inside. They contacted the RCMP shortly afterwards and it was taken into our possession," says Cst. Annie Linteau, RCMP Media Relations Officer in a news release.

At this point the shoe is being turned over to the BC Coroners Service for examination and DNA analysis.

"The RCMP E Division Major Crime Section have been involved in the overall investigation into the five previous discoveries of human remains (Feet) washing up on the shores of British Columbia's southern coastal regions. That investigative team is currently mobilizing to investigate the latest discovery. Obviously due to the fact that a hoax was perpetrated previously and then extensively reported on we want to proceed cautiously until we know what exactly we are dealing with," says Cst Linteau.

The New Balance running shoe was found at approximately 11:30 am on the shore of the south arm of the Fraser River. A previous New Balance running shoe was found on May 22, 2008 on Kirkland Island. Investigators will be determining whether the shoes are linked. In the previous instances there has been no evidence to support foul play. In each of the previous positively identified remains it was determined that they were removed through natural processes.

This is the sixth foot to have washed up in B.C. since August 2007.

The first foot was found on Jedidiah Island, in the strait that divides Vancouver Island from the mainland. It was a right foot inside a Campus-brand men's size 12 running shoe that was mainly distributed in India.

Six days later, another right foot - inside a man's size 12 Reebok running shoe - washed ashore on Gabriola Island.

A third - a right foot in a Nike sneaker - was found in the area on Feb. 8 on the east side of Valdez Island.

The fourth and fifth feet were both found near the Fraser River.

The fourth came ashore on Kirkland Island on May 22 and was the only one of the five that came from a woman's body. It was found in a New Balance running shoe.

The fifth, a size 10 left foot, was located a kilometre away on June 16. It was later determined to be a match to the foot found months earlier on Valdez Island.

A seventh foot was found at a Strait of Juan de Fuca beach, just south of the U.S-Canada border, about 40 kilometres west of Port Angeles.

lol, nope :D
When I signed into my iGoogle page I noticed the news headline, and rather than create a new topic I dragged up your thread instead. Since a few people had expressed interest, I figured it was worth an update.

Anyway, one thing I have noticed is that the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) have actually been quite close-mouthed about the whole thing. Given that often as much can be revealed by what is not said as it can be by what is screamed from the rooftops, you really do have to wonder what the hell is going on.
As somebody stated in the comments section of that story, it took four years for the police to conclude that foul play actually was involved in the much publicized Pickton murders.. So that is also helping to fuel rampant speculation.
