Vista problems

Post by Fearless »

I have recently bought a new system with Vista installed. which I hate.

I am able to load BG II & Icewindale II, but I can't load BG & Icewindale

Is there any solution to this problem.

Have you changed the compatibility mode to XP? Also have you fully patched the game with the appropriate patches for your versions?

Thanks dear sir,
How do I change to compatability mode and where these days can I get the patches.

I am afraid I am a gamer, been so since D&D was a board game, and BG since the begining, But computers NAH. I loved XP andI think I'm going back to it.

and apart from that I'm OLD and need looking after:laugh:

You get the patches from the bioware site. To get there use google with the keywords, Baldur's and patches, and you will get to the correct page on the site.

If you right click on the icon to start Baldur's Gate, then click on properties, there should be a compatibility option under the properties menu. Just change it to run in Windows XP mode. It may or may not work, but often its solved problems I've had with running various games on Vista.

also try maybe changing your desktop settings (display) to run in windows classic until you get installed. (then you can change it to whatever when done installing your stuff)

i have VISTA and for a few games, i had to change my display properties to the classic to install.

also, make sure that your vista has the service pack 1 downloaded/installed ... that helped with alot of things. after the sp1 was loaded on my computer... it now runs great for me.
:D Smile.... That way they wont know what your thinking :p
