Imalia Problem

Post by alpha_hazard »

So I've snuck into Tawni's apartment and placed the cameras without being seen. I used obfuscate and hysteria to avoid detection, there is no possible way I was noticed, but when I return to Imalia, she says I was caught, calling me useless. However, THe Newspaper with the Naughty Headline is on the table...Is this a bug, or did I still screw up?

Probably both, actually. It's a bug, but it probably means you were noticed (they just don't go aggressive.). There are several longer threads you'll want to check out -

try using only obfuscate ( no hysteria ) and try not to hit any objects in the rooms also be very careful of how you access the computer , because that thing behind you ( i dunno how it`s called but ppl get behind it to change their clothes ) is see-through...

and also they mustn`t even hear that you were there... if you have played the game before with a char that has auspex you may have noticed that sometimes they hear ( or see ) something but they just don`t know what... ( it`s when their aura goes blue ) so that doesn`t exactly mean that they noticed you , but still if they hear you making ANY NOISE AT ALL or see something moving from a distance ( you ) then the quest fails

i used to hate that quest when i first completed the game with the tremere because sometimes you don`t know that you failed it until you get back to imalia so it can get a little annoying to make that road a lot of times

( hope this helps if the forums mentioned above didn`t... )

I fixed that problem in the unofficial patch so now you get an immediate failure message if you are noticed.

well yeah you get a failure message if you are noticed but somehow i managed to make her boyfriend get stuck right in a door ( i mean he was just standing there blocking my way so i had to use nightwisp ravens on him ) and i ended up stealth-killing him and i didn`t get a failure message

i think i waited around 10 minutes for him to move from that spot but he didn`t want to move... he left me with no choice ( i was thinking about obfuscating and then try to jump on his head so he would move away but i think he would`ve spotted me )

Actually, I doubt that he got stuck. From watching it a million times, his destination table is like this:

Sofa: Bathroom or Bedroom
Bedroom: Bathroom or Sofa
Bathroom: BR Door, Bedroom, or Sofa
Door: BR Door, Bedroom, Bathroom, or Sofa

In the final case, his odds of moving seem to be biased toward the bedroom.

He can go from the door to the door (that is, simply not move). The Destinations are chosen randomly, and it *is* possible for the generator to get 'zone stuck' sometimes - to land repeatedly in roughly the same area of the numeric range.

He probably didn't get stuck, as such - he simply moved from the door to the door - repeatedly - for a long time. I've seen it happen to other destinations, most often the bedroom, of course, where it's not uncommon for him to go from the bathroom to the bedroom and back for very long periods of time (and if any human peed that often, they'd be a dessicated pile of dry cells).

Personally, I regard the destination balancing in that quest as a bug. The most popular destination shouldn't be the bathroom. The probabilities should favor the living room, although that would likely make the quest even more difficult. What would have worked better is adding the kitchen as a destination - he frequently drops by to whisper sweet nothings to his sweety, as it were, but everybody knows about the time problems in development. The kitchen destination, however, would have solved the difficulty issue, the diuretic issue, and removed the door blockade problem all at once.

That quest is, however, a great test of patience.
