Dager +1 in Candelkeep?!?
When i went ouside of candlekeep (chapter 1). I saw a dagger+1 in my inventory.
I cant remember ever getting a dagger+1 in Candlekeep, and i cant remember finding it.
Where did I get this dagger from?

I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

That would be from Fuller in the barracks if you get him the bolts that requests, and have 18 Cha. Definitely something you want as a thief or maybe as a mage. Maybe even good for Imoen or Xzar in the beginning.

Yeah, so you're best chances look to be with these classes:
1) Paladin
2) Bard
3) Druid
All three of these, as you know, require high charisma, so they often reep the best awards for quests or anything else involving dialogues. Not much else to say other than that.

What would Bards and Druids want with high Charisma? Especially the latter need all the stat points they can get...Galuf the Dwarf wrote:Yeah, so you're best chances look to be with these classes:

Don't bards use charisma for their spells? I'm not sure, that may not be the case with 2nd edition D&D rules.anarchistica wrote:What would Bards and Druids want with high Charisma? Especially the latter need all the stat points they can get...
But I'm fairly sure all those classes have a fairly high minimum requirement of charisma.

This is 2nd edition, you know, the poor one.
Charisma is only used for how NPCs react to the player. All that stuff about CHA affecting Turn Undead, Paladin saving throws, Sorcerer/Bard spells, etc. is 3rd edition.

Yep, charisma affecting your spells and such non-sense only came with Turd edition.
In 2nd edition Bards and Druids have a minimum charisma requirement of 15, apart from reaction and follower influence, charisma also affected psionics if you used them.

The charisma and the reputation modifier are added to decide if you get the positive reaction.wise grimwald wrote:I was aware of the charisma needed to get the dagger, but have recently had a thought, due to becoming exceedingly wealthy in Candlekeep (over 1000gp). If I used that money to raise my reputation, could I get the dagger and the cure poison potions in the Friendly Arms without having an 18 Charisma?
So you need 14-15 reputation with 16-17 cha, 16-17 with 15 cha, ...
Getting the antidotes in the FAI should be quite easy since Imoen has 16 cha.

Thanks. That info will be most useful for future games. I only had a charisma of 3, so didn't get the dagger, but of course Imoen + Algernon's cloak is sufficient to get the potions.kmonster wrote:The charisma and the reputation modifier are added to decide if you get the positive reaction.

There are a lot of goodies to be had with high charisma, the scroll of magic protection when you save a cat for instance.

Not to mention that a high charisma gives you a nice discount at the stores, which is very nice for recharging your wands.
