You can find all that info in a walkthrough, but never mind.

There are actually four havens, I've hidden the spoilers. Highlight at your own risk.

Santa Monica: every player gets this one. It's the haven you begin your game in.

Skyline appartments: always be nice to the Prince and obey his every command, just be a good little pawn and he'll give you this haven
Spoiler
after you return from the Elizabeth Dane.
Once you have it you can be as much of a dck as you like to him.

Tremere Chantry: You have to play a Tremere (obviously). You get this haven
Spoiler
after you finished the Gargoyle quest in Hollywood. Isaac gives you this quest. You have to pick up the Thaumaturgical Creatures book in the chantry before you get the quest and confront Strauss about it before you kill/persuade the gargoyle. DO NOT rat Strauss out to Isaac or you won't get the haven.
If you get the chantry haven the Prince will not offer the one in the Skyline appartments.

Nosferatu haven: You can find this one downtown in the sewers near the Prince's tower.
Spoiler
Gary will offer you this haven after you've freed Barbarus in Chinatown.
You have to have been nice to Gary to get this haven.

I don't know if the unofficial patches do anything to the havens, check the readme if you use the patch.

You're welcome, have fun with the game ;)

You may also be interested to know that the 'special' havens (nosferatu and tremere) have occult items, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Yep.
It has, in fact, been discussed on this forum more than once. See here, for instance: http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/vampire-tm-bloodlines-47/how-do-you-get-different-skins-87362.html#post935861

Hope that helps.

On the tremere haven theres an item for them in the box in front of the bed, and in the nosferatu the item is in the desk, the disciple obfuscate lasts longer...Oh and the haven in the skyline appartments has an occult item too, its on the box in front of the fish tank
