There seems to be a general acceptance to that a possible Atlantis exited not it the Atlantic but in the Mediterranean
Is't Alantis suppose to be around Alexandria???

@Darkpoet: well according to Plato's text the location of Atlantis would be an island in the middle of the Atlantic the size of Libya and Asia. But recent study suggest that it might have been inside the Mediterranean. Maybe as a part of Crete and/or Thera. But this dosn't fit the description of greek history/mythologic. So I rather think it might have been a different island

I think Plato may have tried to be historically accurate, but was given 'legendary' info as well as actual when compiling his account.

Yes, that is the one. And where the Atlantis fit into it?

@Minerva: Man has only been on the scene 100,000 years or so. The continents haven't moved much in that time. Crete (or was it Thera) was a largish island until a huge volcanic eruption turned it into a thin crescent.

Properly yes - unless ofcouse we can disover Solons text's I don't think we'll be able to find historical evidence. We have to find some kind of artifacts before this theory can be proven.
