I found out that we are not specifiacally welcome in the world of Argyle. (roleplaying wise)

According to Argylian(sp?) history Wizards were the bane of the people, so they are not looked upon with favor.
Let's hope our fighters can defend us if neassesary from the people of illfate(sp?)

There is apparently a Guild of Sin (much like Shadow Thieves) that is out to get wizards (and everybody else) and a new guild/group calling themselves The Inquisition (the spanish maybe :D )that are dedicated to root out the "evil"(all) wizards, by capturing them, interigating them and stealing their hoard.

Let's make them feel the wrath of a banshee when they try.
AFAIK they know not much of BoTB, so if we log on say 20 of us at one time - we will then destroy all that dares to enter our path, and jebodize(sp?) our safety.

Hopefully.

I'm just saying this to warn you all, that it might be good to dress anonymess and don't cast spells around people - should pose a nice challenge
To lay low untill we get high level

<IC>
Aye, magelings - we'd better dress like figthers or rogues, to fool the masses

I wear sword and bow, and sometimes a chain shirt as well, so...

(I'd advise my non-Elven brothers and sisters to wield the sling, so that they might still be of some small use once their level 1 spell for the day has been cast...)
</IC>

So, what's the deal with all this mage-hating in Argyle? Is there some counter-balance to the issue, or are mages just plain screwed?

Is there some behind-the-scenes reason to harass mages? Like, maybe, the DMs (rightly) feel that mages are much more powerful than the other classes?

It is background story for the land of Argyle, and thus many people and most likely NPCs will RP this.
But I don't think we need to fear being hunted down by all, just by some - but hopefully we would be strong enough to oppose all thoese people.

Note to self: first find out if they have a good reason to do so, and if they do...)

Hello all! How's everyone doing these days? I gotta make a suggestion... Since I was promoted at work a few weeks ago, I have been SWAMPED!!! Til then I had enough time in the day to post all the time. Now I'm lucky if I can get on here once per day. I think it is probably time for me to take myself out of the Wing Leader spot as I do not think I can devote the time and energy that the post needs. I obviously still want to contribute as much as I can, but I think we all deserve someone that can put more time and effort into it.

With that said, I am about to get back to the grind here. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

The rest of us find graves, and our dust is no grander than that of the next man. So when next you lord it over some farmer with your fireballs, remember: we all master spells enough to die"

Sorry it took me so long to respond. Been SWAMPED! I would think a vote would make more sense than me just hand picking someone.

Well, some have to study, while others are born into power... I'm sure there must be a benefit to being a Mage instead of a Sorcerer, only I have trouble coming up with one... :D

Well, that's not entirely true. Mages excel in meta-magic. I hope for your sakes that some of that will make it into NWN. ;)

My main reason for selecting a mage, is I feel better using points in intelligence than in charisma :)
I'd feel less for running around with a character with ei. 16 charisma and 10 intelligence than a 10 charisma and 16 intelligence. Personal preferences.
Otherwise I'd also select a sorcerer - and I'd might to it still ;)

There's also, of course, the well-known fact that Mages can learn more spells, but Sorcerers can cast more and cast dynamically. Since I tend to stick to a very small number of particularly blessed spells anyway, I don't consider the Sorcerer to have any real disadvantages.

Well apparrently Xyx, you are the new leader - there has been no other running against you, and nobody else has seemed to vote at all (have we lost all magic-users in the process?? :D - have you been talking to Ned the Knife, huh?? :D :D )

Congrats.

Xyx - is the new Wingleader of Magi wing, and I'll update it as soon as possible.
If knowbody minds (hmm - well if there isn't anybody in here, how could they :D ) I'll just swith mikeheitz out with Xyx so he takes up position in the Council of Magi.
(What do you think Xyx? - you're our leader *shudders* :D )

oO0(Things are going to change around here... No more Hot-Tub Waitress Summoning, for starters.)

*smiles pleasantly*

As leader, I propose to make us all stinking rich!

oO0(Oh, damn! I'm quoting a Dwarf now...)

No, make that insanely powerful!

oO0(Yes, that's more like it. Especially me, of course.)

Of course, we might need a little funding in order to become insanely powerful, so we shouldn't completely ignore the material side of life either.

If we venture into Argyle, be prepared to encounter some resistance from the local populace. They're not exactly mage-lovers... Some of you might find it wise to assume the identities of Bards.

Our ultimate goal in Argyle will, of course, be to make people realize that mages are people, too, and no more evil than any other.

o0O(...and those that will not see the light better go out and buy Scrolls of Protection from Magic!)
