Actually, I think the coolest animal on earth must be a tapir. Have you ever seen a live one? I have, I have!

What´d ya reckon it´d be like living in a single-room flat with a tapir and a chinchilla for roommates? Pretty scary, I guess...

When I was working in a zoo, I had occasional dealings with tapirs, and they are very gentle, laid-back creatures. A mother tapir was quite content just to sniff around and nibble on snacks we supplied her while we checked the condition of her newborn baby.
Incidentally, some time after I left the zoo, I heard a rumour that male tapirs are one of the best equipped mammals to be found, but I have not been able to verify that. In any case I would recommend caution if you have a male tapir as a room mate - be careful about bending over to pick up objects etc. etc.
