On a completely unrelated note, St. Basil's Cathedral is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, the Bolshoi erased my hatred of opera, and the new Sheremetevo airport is excellent apart from the truly horrendous ceiling made completely of brown metal pipes

So, Kayless, have you ever been to Glacier National Park? Ive heard it is quite beatiful and breath taking and only lies near miles away from Anchorage. I would be guessing an hour or 2 drive away. Certainly one of the most famous national parks in Alaska is one that you have actually witnessed, first hand, right?Originally posted by Kayless

Do you mean Glacier Bay National Park (Just plain Glacier National Park is in Montana I think). Can't say I've been there myself (though they have boats that will take you out into the inlet to get a good view of the glacier and whales).
