Mass Effect isn't published by Lucasarts so they don't need to worry about this game (Microsoft is the publisher, by the way).that_one_dude wrote:well were probally definatley not gonna hear anything about kotor 3 untill a while after mass effetct is released because if they said it was in production everyone wudent care about mass effect theyd be focuseed on kotor 3 but well see.....
P.S. Sorry that I misread your post just now, that_one_dude.

I think that would happen if the k3 is also made by bioware... After all, Mass Effect is THEIR OWN scifi game and would propable be left without as much attention... well i dont know for sure but i think that might happen

Co-op mode? Yeah, I've heard of this mode before in a number of games like Splinter Cell to name a few. I kind of like it, though I'm not sure if it will fit into an RPG.Darth Revan 07 wrote:Well I like the rpg, but it would be nice to also play with other people and maybe get help if you need any on missions from other people.![]()

I've seen it done in X-Men Legends and some others... basically, the "top-down" kind of stat building RPG.DesR85 wrote:Co-op mode? Yeah, I've heard of this mode before in a number of games like Splinter Cell to name a few. I kind of like it, though I'm not sure if it will fit into an RPG.
It could work, though not sure how it would affect the storyline. Where I've seen it work before has been on games with levels, rather than areas.
Though it could also work like Decay does in Half-Life - you compelte the game, then get some bonus area...
Maybe co-op could have its own places like haveing little bones levels. but i dont think we need itbigredpanda wrote:I've seen it done in X-Men Legends and some others... basically, the "top-down" kind of stat building RPG.

If they make a MMO then maybe they should revise the combat system because if there is a lot of players gameplay would become really slow and easy. Imagine 10 players attacking a very tough enemy, the players will have 10+ attacks and the enemy will only have one attack or power per round. That would make players kill those enemies quickly and get extremely boring after a while.
BTW how should players be revived when they die?

@ oftherepublic havent played Galaxies so i didnt know about the whole revive thing
You are probably right about they are going to revise the combat system but what type of combat system should they use? Personally i would like a VtM:B style combat system because it is real-time, rather fast paced and still has save rolls, attack rolls etc.

@riotfellow- i dont know combat systems all i know is that I want real time fighting and I want skill diversity so not all Jedi are cookie cutter Jedi, like characters are in WoW and all other MMORPG. Im currently working on my KOTOR 3 story and have come up with one of the most elaborate endings so ill get back to you on this subject by tomorrow

monthly fees
First off, a mmo in kotor setting would be interesting, but as said before, as long as it doesnt interfere with kotor3
That said, the reason why many mmo's have a monthly fee is because they maintain the servers themselves. The monthly fee is for maintaince, and just having the servers in general. It costs many to have high quality servers.
But that said, the monthly fees is also the reason why i dont even consider playing mmo's. I did a few days of the WoW trial like a year ago, and that game is not worth 12 bucks a month, or whatever the fee is. So yeah, it would be great to have no monthly fee, but with the fact that star wars is extremely popular, the developers know that tons of people will pay monthly to play the game, and continue to play if the game is good. So 99% chance there will be a monthly fee.

meh
The idea of a Kotor MMO could be worth exploring, I suppose, even though I can't really see it really going anywhere. The prospect of an MMO Kotor 3 however just ticks me off. Let's face it, Kotor 2 was a pretty big disappointment. I dare say it's the one game I've bought that actually had the nerve to call itself "complete". I still remember the weeks after I'd bought it when it would sit on my shelf collecting dust because it wouldn't run normally on an Radeon Mobility. And I'm not even going to get into the amount of content that had been cut just to get it in the stores by Christmas (I mean, honestly, wth?). I understand there's the whole "best time of day to set up your lemonade store," and that Obsidian might have done a better job of planning the scope of their project, but as far as I'm concerned Lucas' priorities seem to be pretty clear when it comes to this little franchise of his.
It might just be that I've been looking forward to a Kotor 3 for so long for some much needed closure to the series, but right now, I don't think I could trust Lucas to deliver a game, much less an MMO, that I would be willing to pay good money for. imho, the notion of a Kotor MMO just looks like someone trying to jump on the bandwagon of the day. :/

as long as star wars galaxies is around( which wont be to long at this rate) it wont happen. they could have a test server for people to try and if it rakes in the $ we could be sayin hello to KOTOR MMO. the game though should be in mandalorian wars with the criminal sith republic mandalorian and people faction. so it could be a go but wait till christmas and then check starwars.com

So uhh Kotor mmo is a no-no I think because:
1) it wouldnt tie up the end of the stroy in the kotor series
2) monthly charges, and please for the first few months at least there would be charges!
3) I dont want to see seven million of one type of person
4) maybe there could be a star wars mmo, but not a kotor series
5) this series needs to come to a close, and a good close at that!!!!!

i think the idea for a Kotor 3 MMO would be awesome, as long as (as stated in a few posts i've seen) it was an additional option. so the the main menu would look something like this:
Single Player (in it are the "new game" and "load game" options)
Multiplayer (the MMORPG)
Movies
Credits
Options
Exit Game
this way the single player gameplay could (hopefully) revolve around all the other threads on the discussion board, while multiplayer would give players the ability to play the game online with other people. i think that the MMORPG should, however, touch on (as suggested earlier) the Mandalorian Wars, along with KotOR 1, 2 and 3. also, we should be able to travel to all of the planets within the games (maybe leaving out the Yavin Station from PC version of K1). as for the starting character, idk what we'd do. i mean, if you can choose to play as a Jedi, do we give them a lightsaber right off the bat?
