Kotor Mmorpg?

Post by Chanak »

This thread will facilitate discussion regarding the rather potent rumor that's been circulating as of late - an MMO set in the KOTOR universe. Feel free to express your opinions as it relates to the topic. :)

Star Wars Galaxies 2 ? :P
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

NOOOOOOO to mmorpg

Why would they make it a mmorpg? leave it the way it is and if it just comes out as a RPG I bet the kotor 3 game will only come out for Xbox 360 and pc and not the Xbox that sucks! but, we don't know yet MAN!, I've got to get a Xbox 360 :(

As has been pointed out by others, an MMORPG in the KOTOR setting would not be "it." A KOTOR MMO would be...well, an MMO in the KOTOR setting. Not a continuation of the storyline of the two previous KOTORs, but rather something that stands on it's own.

Oh that would be nice but not to continue in a continuation of the previous games  but I wouldn't be able to play it I've got dial up  :(

I would like the idea, but only if it can be played for free (sure you need to buy the game, but that should be all there is to it, without paying monthly like some other MMO).

I wonder what part of the setting will this KOTOR MMO choose, though, if it's not based on the events in the KOTOR series. I can't think of anything important before the events of the KOTOR series. :(

@Des, they could decide to set it during the Mandolorian wars, so although not actually the Revan story it still has links to it. This will also enable players to choose between opposing the war, joining it, or between staying light or falling the the darkside. It would also offer the opportunity to play other classes, such as Mandolorian or Republic Soldier and so on.

I also agree that if they are going to do this then they should make it without a monthly subscription - I refuse to pay extra to play a game which I have already bought and this is one of my biggest issues with MMORPGs.

Good point. That could be a good setting for an MMO, in my opinion.

While I do agree with this, I doubt we will see this being used in MMORPGs anytime soon. Most MMORPG developers seem to prefer the Pay-to-play method rather than Free-to-play.

i would love it if they made a MMORPG in the Kotor series and it would be great it was free, but it would have to be seperate from the two previous games, but if they try to make Kotor III an MMORPG I would flip out I want it to continue in Xbox and PC

If set in the wars it would have some pretty major battles goinf on 20+ people. Which mean area powers would become really powerful (force storm)

stasis field, with a high enough level that nobody makes the save.

@JFSOCC and Ampasand: Let's stay on topic. The topic of the thread is your opinion on a possible KOTOR MMO. Rabbit trails such as the effect of powers, etc, have no place in the discussion. Thanks.
