My most recent custom class

Race: Breton
Stats: strength & endurance
Specialization: Magic
Birthsign: I prefer The Mage. +50 magicka with no weaknesses. +10 stats are easily replaceable (except Luck), but a hefty magicka bonus cannot be gained anywhere else in the game. A Breton with the Mage tops out at 300(!) magicka without any equipment or spell bonuses. That's enough to fire off a spell that does 450 damage (45pts over 10 seconds).
Class: Justicar
Major skills: blade, armorer, destruction, restoration, sneak, athletics, speechcraft

The idea is that a Justicar is primarily trained as a mage hunter. Justicars typically work alone, which is why sneak is necessary and speechcraft is for ferreting out information (ok, I know there isn't really any info to ferret out, but that's the concept). Athletics is for covering ground quickly, especailly in rough terraing where horses can't go. They can handle themselves in close up or magic combat. By the time I reached 20th level, I could handle pretty much anything with either magic or my sword. It is a good balance that helps keep the battles from being too monotonous.

I chose destruction and restoration for two reasons: 1) They seem the most suitable for a mage hunter. 2) They are the hardest magic skills to level up, so I wanted the extra boost. My first training sessions are entirely devoted to three stats: intelligence, willpower and endurance. For that reason, I use my starting cash (and whatever I can plunder from the mage's guilds) to buy at least one cheapo spell for each school. Then I train the hell out them until my intelligence is 100 (that's 10 levels at +5/lvl). After that I swap training strength for intelligence (using skeletons as practice dummies). When my willpower and endurance are maxed out (or pretty close) I switch to training agility and speed.

I chose armorer rather than a specific armor type since I use both depending on the situation. Early in the game, I just carry a shield and only wear armor during "practice sessions" at home. Once I have trained my endurance and strength up (practicing on summoned critters) I switch to wearing light armor in practice and in the field. After I have trained up my speed and have a 50+ sneak, then I wear full hvy armor in the field. And that's typically when I'd start on Knights of the Nine or Shivering Isles (some nice hvy armor in those add-ons).

Oh, and since I have been summoning all those practice dummies, my Conjuration skill will be the first to reach 100. Tired of chasing those damn necromancers and conjurers? Just summon up a clannfear or voracious hunger (shivering isles spell) and play fox & hounds.

One thing to keep in my mind when building a character is that offensive skills compete with each other. There are four options in the game (blade, blunt, marksman, destruction). Pick one melee and one ranged and stick with them. If you try to master three or all four, you will either take an insane amount of playing time or you will lack offensive punch later in the game.

I'll throw my hat in the ring as well and what better candidate then the character I created this week.

Name Caesar
Race: Orc
Birth-Sign: Atronach
Class: Rex Mortis (Custom Class)
Major Skills: Conjuration, Blunt, Illusion, Block, Destruction, Heavy Armor, and Athletics.

Role: Initially, the Rex Mortis is a warrior who uses the dark arts to enhance his fighting abilities. Able to resurrect the fallen to fight for him, paralyze his foes with fear, drain the essence of those that stand before him and in combination with his brute strength can prove to be an extremely ferocious opponent.

It is said that Rex Mortis means "King of the Dead" in an ancient language and it is suspected that the original Rex Mortis led an empire based on the arts of necromancy. Most scholars dismiss this as nothing more than a myth but there are some who claim it to be true and search for the fallen empire all their lives.
We're all going to die some day, I intend to deserve it.

Race:Breton
Sign:Apprentice
Specialization:Magic
Skills:Blade,Destruction,Conjuration,Heavy armor,Illusion,Mysticism,Block
Skill:Endurance and Willpower

Role:This type of mage plows into battle using touch spells and armor shattering strikes. Conjuration for assistance,Heavy armor for main defense, illusion for commanding and dissapearing when your in a tight situation, mysticism for trapping souls before you get umbra and block for secondary defense.

I used imperial dragon armor with umbra shield and sword. Enchant your shield with spell reflect if you don't want to have to get spell breaker. Apprentice is for blasting off spells like a machine gun and breton soaks up most of the apprentice's weakness to magicka.

Character Name:
Dusk

Race:
Breton

Birthsign:
The Mage or The Warrior

Specialization:
Stealth

Major Skills:
Alchemy, Armorer, Blade, Illusion, Light Armor, Restoration, Sneak

Role:
This character prefers strategy and tactics over running into the heat of battle and hacking away at your enemies. With a sharp dagger laced with powerful poisons, this character silently sneaks up on his foes to end their lives with a quick slash. This character also tries to maximize his endurance as early as possible to gain the most health possible upon leveling up, as should be the top priority for all characters.

I'll start of with my choice of the major skills. Alchemy, in my opinion, is a very important skill to have. This allows you to create devastating poisons for your blades, allowing you to deal massive amounts of damage. Aside from poisons, you will also be able to create incredibly strong potions that heal large amounts of health/magicka/fatigue or temporarily boost your skills. Armorer is needed to keep your gear in top condition, and at Expert level you will be able to repair items beyond 100%, further increasing their effectiveness. This is incredibly helpful. Blade is just my fighting style, but you can substitute it if you wish. Illusion lets you cast spells like Chameleon to help you sneak, or Paralyze to render your enemies helpless against you. Light Armor was chosen because it ways very little, allowing you to be quick and agile during battle, also the 50% armor boost at 100 light armor is a large help, too. Restoration allows you to create spells that fortify your attributes or skills, such as Magicka or Blade. This is also useful when ingredients for Alchemy are not readily available as you can restore your health very quickly using Restoration. Lastly, sneak is a must have for this character. The 6x damage from the critical hit, along with a powerful poison applied to your blade allows for a vast amount of damage inflicted on your opponent. At level 100 sneak you also gain a perk that lets you ignore your foe's armor rating, further increasing the already large amount of damage you do.

The Mage or The Warrior can be chosen for your birthsign, depending on how much you use magic. I chose the Breton for this class because of his incrediby helpful 50% resistance to magic. This effectively negates half of the damage done to you by an enemy spell. This along with a single Mundane Ring grants you full immunity to all harmful magic!

I hope you enjoyed reading my custom class, sorry for getting into such detail :p

The character I've been playing with lately is a fighter who eschews the use of magic:

Name: Eorel

Race: Dunmer

Birthsign: The Thief

Major Skills used: Heavy Armour, Armourer, Block

Major Skills not used: Alteration, Illusion, Conjuration, Mysticism

Minor skills which are used all the time: Alchemy, Blade, Blunt, Marksman

Secondary Minors: Security, hand-to-hand, sneak

Obviously if level progression had been handled intelligently by Bethesda the minor skills I use would have been majors.

This 'class' doe present more of a challenge, I've actually died several times, something that when playing my preferred class of Mage never happens.

Normal combat sequence is to use bow whilst hidden, then engage in hand to hand. This orks quite well when facing vanilla anemies, but is much more of a challenge when facing Francesco's monsters. Against them I have to resort to hit and run tactics quite regularly.

For interest in case I haven't mentioned it before, my favourite class is:

Race: Any

Birthsign: The Thief (the luck, agility and speed boost are too good to ignore)

Major Skills Used: Destruction, Conjuration, Alteration, Mysticism, Illusion

'Major' Skills not used: Marksman, Light Armour

'Minor' Skills used extensively: Alchemy, Restoration

PS The latter class is far too easy, even with Francesco's or OOO.

PPS Oops, I almost forgot, I also use the true unarmoured mod, so the latter calss also passively uses Acrobatics all the time.
