How do you feel about exploiting glitches? There is one involving a sceptre that the lich in the Crooked Ctane has which can be exploited to give you 25 Charisma if you're interested.

I prefer to to play without cheats and exploits, thanks but no thanks. :)

I agree with you, unless I'm playing a Chaotic Evil character, in which case anything goes, 'rules are for the weak'! :D

likewise, while dex might not mean much towards endgame bg2 / tob, it means a whole lot in bg1 & early bg2.
Guys, stats you need to dual are not the same stats we start the game with. This is especially abusive in NWN, where even a race req can be changed during the game. In BG2 it is possible to get 3 WIS increases. In addition to 3 wis increases of bg1, so if someone is strapped for points, starting with wis 17, because of dualing req, is not very wise. Otherwise yeah wis is not a completely trashy stat for a cleric.

For defence, Dex is pretty much irrelevant even in bg1, no tank survives there, the best move to do there is to equip everyone with bows ASAP.

dex as defence is a poorly thought-out concept, 5% guaranteed to be hit even with super gear is pretty bad, and with average gear, its more like 40% hit, in other words every 2,3th attempt lands a shot, thats no tank compared to a naked mage who can tank 18 hits with just a mirror image and stoneskin.

If anyone is still interested in charisma: CHA does one more thing that is hardly ever mentioned. People don't seem to know about it, it's mentioned very vaguely in the short "description" of what a certain stat does when you click on it while rolling. Charisma affects leadership (I think that it says something about the character's "ability to lead") which basically means that the charisma of whoever of your party members is in the first slot, decides, for instance, whether other characters, when they get low on hp, get 'moral failure' and enter the state of 'panic', running away etc. For example: If the 'leader' uses the Ring of Human Influence, this hardly ever happen.

Aye, I know that. With this char I actually got alot of morale failures early in the game, but since everyone in my party nowadays is so ridicilously powerful, I don't think they have anything to fear, anymore. :D Good to mention, though. :)

Max morale for the whole party is one lvl1 spell away, or even always with bard song. The only time i saw anyone panicking was early Khalid in bg1 due to his inherently low morale.
