Hmm, I'm not going to say anything can really be topped...I think all experiences are different. Much like the old apple/orange analogy. All I'll say about my own experience is, that it can easily compete

As far as I know, given names didn't have any meaning. When surnames started they had a meaning, like "the great" or "red-hand" or "crooked". As far as I know. I don't know an awful lot about Gaelic though...

I don't know what you're talking about. I think Valentine's day is just a splen-diddly holiday. Eveyone walking around with those little hearts bubbling up from themselves just like Beavis and Butthead whenever they'd see Todd, he's cool.

Plus, guys have the pleasure of getting in touch with their feminine side gleefully spending $60 on a dozen roses......

WHICH WILT IN A FEW DAYZ TIMES, what a waste of money. Then you buy your significant other a big box of chocolates to get them fatter so they don't rush off and sleep with someone else.

People running around calling each other 'honey' all day. Someone get me a bucket.

Well, I hate Valentine's day. Fortunately, so does my girlfriend. We usually celebrate it by going out to some hole in the wall bar for some piss water beer and so greasy crappy food. It just seems fitting to us while all the pretentious folk go out and spend a boatload of money because they require a day, some declared holiday, to remind them to be nice and/or consider their significant other.

If I'm not in your town, make sure you puke in a flower basket for me and piss on that box of chocolates. later.

Ah, KidD. The thought is much appreciated, but I can't stomach whiskey - I'll stick with my Paulaner.

As to "lots of women" --- where? Are they beautiful and intelligent and kind? Present company excepted, Der-draigen & Minerva, my experiences have not led me to have a happy outlook on the "fairer" sex.

See, now there. Why isn't intelligent and kind enough? Why do guys place so much emphasis on looks??

Perhaps -- and this is not addressed specifically to you, der Moench, but as a general comment

-- perhaps if guys didn't place so much emphasis on looks, and didn't try to find the ideal supermodel, they would more easily find the intelligent and kind women.

Not to say that supermodel-types aren't intelligent and kind (some of them are, I'm sure

). Just saying that, if you're looking for looks, your vision is going to be clouded. This goes for women too, of course. I know women who constantly fail at relationships because they go for the hot guy and kind of cross their fingers and hope he's also a good person. Or, they go for the hot guy and outright imagine him to be a good person.
