This would have to depend on whether you want a ranged or melee fighter. Mazzy is *very* good with a Short Bow.

The reason Keldorn is great is the double str dispel (and as a bonus true sight though you could get that other places). Whatever damage he does (which can be plenty) is secondary.

if keldorn, then for carsomyr and xbows.
if not necessary badly, i dont use dispel magic, as i dun like to lose my stone/ironskins, chant, def harmony and basically any other combat spells during battle. would make me lose more than i gain, in at least 90% of all cases. and for the remaining, its not a big deal to have 3-4 dispells memorized after u r beyond the spell shortage in the beginning of the game.
nevertheless i consider keldorn being a useful NPC, but his dispel is secondary at the most, imo.
