we could all debate that a lot of classes (bard, druid, etc) were not represented well (ugh, cernd), not to mention the new classes not being represented at all by NPCs. but to get back to my original point, Watchers Keep might prove too tough for Imoen (i dual classed her in BGI and Durlag's Tower was too hard for her), i think b/c thiefs are so necessary there should have been more "pure" thiefs in the game instead of 2 dual classed and one multi class (and i've already voiced my opinion of Jan).

@ Elfstone
as I said earlier, you can keep Yoshimo throughout most of the game and he's the best thief character.
Agree with you about Cernd though but why don't you like the Janster?
If the new npc is Saemon, he's a 12th lvl swashbuckler dualed to mage so he'd be better than Imoen at detrapping.

Me to had a disliking about jan at first, but now i changed my oppinion. He has some special items, and is a good backup mage, better than a full-thief against the biggest monsters. He will be more usefull than yoshimo would in the expansion im sure
Ok, he wont have great thiefskills, but if you just work on themust-have skills (trapdetect, lockpick) he will do. And that is all that is needed in my oppinion. hide in shadows isnt really needed anyway, as well as traps. Detect illusion? he got spells for that, making him the perfect choice.

Damn, I don't know how to quote, so I just gotta do it the old fashioned way. Did they actually say that the new NPC will be a wild mage? I mean, I've seen them saying it will be a new class and the new NPC might be familiar for, at least, some of the players. And if the new NPC was a thief, how about Renal Bloodscalp? Haven't played evil, so I don't know if he will be killed by the PC. Or how about this...what if the new NPC will be NOOBER?!?!? Or perhaps his evil cousin, since he might be dead...

No, like I said above, Bioware hasn't released to much information about stuff like this. The fact that they're adding a new class doesn't necessarily mean that the new NPC is a wild mage; given the fact that players have seen the character in previous BG games, it is unlikely in the extreme that he/she would be a wild mage. Where are the wild magi in past BG games?
Oh, and Locke, I have to disagree with you on thieves. Imoen is a great thief for all that a thief needs to do in the latter part of the game. If you've done all the major quests before heading off to Spellhold, then you don't need a super thief. Sure having a pure thief the whole game is nice, but I think Bioware designed the game around losing Yoshio and picking up Imoen - otherwise, Yoshimo wouldn't betray you.

-As ToB is an add on not a new game as BG2 was and therefore only quite a small part of it will take place after you beat Irenicus in Hell, its unlikely that the designers would introduce a new kit for just the protagonist (IMHO).Hence the new NPC is most likely going to be a wild mage.
-(MINOR SPOILER) Renal doesnt get killed if you take the evil path, he just disappears. Infact if you do try and kill him before you get a nasty suprise..
-Noober would be very cool. Being dead shouldn't be a problem as I killed Minsc in BG1 and he seems fine now.

Thats something that makes me mad, when I kill someone in BG I, they should stay dead. Drizzt, Imoen, Minsc, Jaheira, Viconia, Edwin, and Tazok, just to name a few. They were all little gory chunks of donkey meat when I left them, now they're prancing and frolicking about Amn like nothing happened! What's up with that! (Even though not having Imoen would really screw up the plot.)

Well, they didnt make the game after your BG1 experience.. Also, most of the people admits they have been resurrected somehow, there are ways you know.. Edwin and Xar are 2 examples.

I didn't want to kill him but I didn't want him in the party (b/c I didnt want that crummy mage you have to rescue aswell) but he just went berserk...but like I said he recovered really well and seemed to remember nothing of what happened.

How about the mage from the Harpell family. The Harpells have to be wild mages if ever there were any, right?

My guess still is that it's Irenicus.
I'll bump that thread too.
