As strange as it may sound but my WS considered these guys his worst enemies. Especially the one behind the painting R-r-r, took me quite a few reloads before I found the right startegy.
Good luck!

I am stuck!! I was under the impression that the black dragon could be bribed...obviously not. How am I gonna kill this beast. I could lay traps and rest but then I would waste a day. I have been travelling for 13 days and four hours and this is all that I have left before opening and enetring the palace.
Any suggestions? Please!

I'm curious, how is everyone getting the 15K to pass the first chapter? If you are thief and use the drink potions, steal, sell, repeat it's easy. Obviously anything outside of Athkala takes too long...and you have basically 8-12 hours before you start missing night and end up losing a day. Thief guild quest also requires a wait for night...can you finish it fast enough to still get to the docks the same night? If you kill the priestess to get the amulet, does the entire dock area go hostile or just the one temple?
My monk got close to 10k, but the last 5k is going to be tricky. I think that if I can make it onto the boat fast enough though, the monk should outpace almost anything else through the rest of the game. However, I really want to get closer to 30k so I could pick up the Str 19 belt.
Because of this and the Ribald's Ring of Regeneration I'm starting to think that x/T (Maybe Jester) is the only way to go. However it seems a F/T would have a tough time getting past Adalon and the Black Dragon. I'm considering F/M/T like Kevin or maybe even M/T and stealing boatloads of scrolls.

Black dragon could not be bribed? This is really strange. Did you try all options? Sounds like a bug to me. I am afraid I cannot help you with strategy - I used Vorpal, and I guess you don't have it
As for traps - you still can lay some without rest. 13 days souns pretty good!

You mean Irenicus's dragon? He can't be bribed, right?

That seems to point up a significant difference between Europeans and Americans. A European says: "I can't understand this, what's wrong with me?" An American says: "I can't understand this, what's wrong with him?"
I reckon that Stonehege was build by the contemporary equivalent of Microsoft, whereas Avebury was definitely an Apple circle.

Black dragon in Suldanesselar (sp?) generally can be bribed. It takes all your magical items and returns you the cup. I tried to do it, but then decided that it was wrong thing to do and reloaded. What he does not take is your bag of holding (and its content) and the weapon you have equipped.

I have done it now. 13 days and 8 hours final score. i couldn't bribe the bloody dragon so I laid all my traps that I was saving for sarevok. It almost took him out but then it was just one blow with CF and it was one dead dragon. I couldn't pickpocket him because he was hostile by the time I got near him.
In hell sarevok was the biggest trouble. I had to use all of the improved haste from ring of gaxx and hope for stun from CF. Irenicus was easy both tree and hell. I used the prot from magic on him both times Not very nice to a magic user but thats life.
I did the thief quest and then killed mook the same night. Thief quest and liches to kill kangaxx plus bridge district plus graveyard quests were the only ones I did in Athlatka. I did ask drizzt for help but hey...he wanted to. Money is not a problem, selling the loot from Slave lord killing was more than enough. But I did steal and sell to be able to buy Vhailor's helm and the mercy killer ring. Anyway it was fun, i strongly recommend it.

You don't have to kill adalon to finish underdark quickly. I went in to ust'natha as a drow jst to buy firetooth and sentinel. Then I killed soulafein(spelling) and somme other drow. Snuck in and took the eggs and then snuck out again. gave the eggs to adalon and i was out of there. Didn't spend many hours in the underdark, maybe only one.
I only killed the kuo tuo prince to get the bracers of blinding strike.

The key difference between trying to min/max BG2 and playing a FPS is strategy vs reflex. In a FPS it's mostly about your skill with controlling the character. With BG@ it's mostly about thinking things through...you can just pause to do anything that would take coordination.
As far as just teleporting to a battle fully decked out, where is the challenge in that?

It is also interesting to see what kond of character is best at this and I believe fighter/thief has the best chances. Very effiecient character with few weaknesses.

Maybe wands and scrolls. I only retsted once so memorizing spells is not something you can afford to do if you want to be as fast as possible. But I agree that the F/M/T is cool. Talk about jack of all trades.

How are you guys doing? Curdis and kovi? What did you find most difficult? Which quests did you do?
I am gonna try it with a mage dualed to fighter. I think he can be efficient.

@Bruce Lee. You said you rested only once. Did you play most of the game "fatigued"? I mean, no matter what you do after some time it appeares. What did you do?

Nope I was fatigued after returning to athlakta so there I rested but this was the only time. I had strength 18/96, this means that I have good endurance so I only needed to rest once.
