As for me...besides knife fights..(which shouldn't count) accidents at work..(I drilled my own leg once..don't ask) and just plain can't be helped (Welding will cause holes everywhere in your body) I have never and will never allow someone to put holes in me.
Tattoos....Only the one's out of Chacker Jacks boxes. My wife on the other hand..has two..one on her ankle..the other better left unsaid. Why not I? Call me !cheap!. If I want one I will get my kids magic mark set out and save the money.

If tattoos were as permenant as say, a perm, I'd have a million. But there's just something about having an image carved into your skin for all time that disturbs me. Even when people get them "removed" you can always tell that something was there. It's not just that they look bad (not all do, but they require constant maintenance), but I can't say that in 20 years that I will like and follow the same things I do today.
At least with earrings and most piercings, you can take them out and only the most observant people will know. It's hard to hide a tattoo on your shoulder or leg.

I've done the magic marker kind myself.
My girlfriends came over last weekend or so and they brought those pastel butterfly fake tattoos and that was way too fun. I think that's the closest I'll be to the real thing.
But, no tattoos for me, or odd piercings...mainly I don't like pain.
Also, I think if I got a tongue ring I'd get the darn thing caught on all sorts of things and accidently rip it out (ouch!)...ditto for naval piercings....ditto for eyebrow stuff...Just not good for clumsy people.

Personally I don't really see the appeal of body piercings, but I think that tatoos can be quite attractive, depending both on the image and the person wearing them.
I have occasionally considered getting a tatoo on my foot....okay...so I'm weird....
But cost, the pain factor (the bonier the area...the greater the pain, so I've heard), and the fact that I have extremely sensitive skin have all combined to act as a deterrant.

I don't know about you, but
I have very spectacular sneezes. Real head-turners. Elegant, even. Poems have been written about my sneezes, and the bards will sing of them for centuries to come......

I know what you mean. If the average human projects air and germs out of their nose at 70 mph when sneezing, I'm pretty sure I'm double the velocity. Sneezing, still, was never a problem with a nose ring. I didn't even notice but as soon as I got a cold and had to start blowing my nose, I lost the nose ring and never did it again. Alcohol was very much involved (both sterilization and consumption) in my go with nose piercing.

I cannot stand a needle. I hate a needle. I will do all I can when I goto see a doctor to not have to be shot with a needle. I will take 2000 pills instead of one shot from a needle. Come at me with a needle and someone will get hurt.

I have never considered getting a tattoo because the idea of permanent body scarring doesn't turn me on. Nor does the prospect of having something on my body that will look like a c0ckroach in 25 years (unless you touch them up, they all end up looking like insects). I know some people who have tattoos (my brother and sister to name two), but when I talk to people in their 40s and 50s, most of them regret getting the tattoo on their shoulder that they picked up while in college or in the service.
I would add that all tattoos I've seen have either been garish or dull, and unlike jewelry, you can't remove 'em when you want to.
I've never been tempted to do this, and think the sudden interest is peer-fueled.
As for piercings: well, I've seriously considered an earring, but my wife is dead-set against this. I guess it isn't considered de regueur among the 50s crowd.
A pity. I don't see what's wrong with men wearing tasteful facial jewelry, but that's my opinion.
As for other body piercings: discreet navel rings can be a turn-on, as an bellydancer knows. Breast and labial rings, on the other hand, are (IMO) ridiculous, and a potential health hazard. As for multiple piercings: let taste be thy guide. And where taste doesn't suffice, the fashion police must provide.

I thought ear rings in men, + or - 50, was totally accepted by now, at least rings even if pearls or gems in men's ears are still viewed as unconventional.

For bellydancers, there is also the option to use adhesive navel jewels - it works fine for all kinds of jewelry except maybe rings, I'm not sure if you can glue on a ring.
Nipple piercing in women can damage the ability to nurse an infant later on. Nerve damage is, as I mentioned above, not uncommon when you pierce areas with a high density of nerves, like nipples and genitalia. Outer labia piercing should be a less risk for infection than inner labia or various kinds of ****orial hood piercing or the "Prince Albert" for men, where a ring is partly led through the urinary tract.

Maybe I'll try to breach the idea of an earring, again with my wife. In nearly all ways she's hardly conservative, but I suspect this is the St. Louis, Missouri kid coming out.

I am also glad it wasn't me, i haven't talked to him about it for 3 years and in fact i haven't talked to him for ages now he left the area and i lost contact... so my memory of exactly what happened is sketchy, apparently they messed up somewhere along the way...sorry i haven't more info

I don;t have a tatoo or piercing,
but I want one through my eyebrow, as soon as I have the money.
I don;t think it's dangerous to the health, as long as it's done by a professional, and you keep the piercing clean for a couple of days.
I do know that a piercing through the lip or tounge is very bad for you're teeth.
