@Uncle Scratchy:

You are lowering my Korgan resistance. Having him AND Jan in the party might make it difficult for me to concentrate...let alone stop laughing. You're a very good salesman. :)

I'd love to see any more Korgan dialogue if you have it.

Sorry, Chenak, but I don't have any Korgy dialoques. However, I do have some Jan ones!

____
Yoshimo: Excuse me, good gnome. I have a question that I have been meaning to ask you for a long time. The flash-bombs of yours...

Jan: Yoshimo! Please! "Jan Jansan's Flasher Master Bruiser Mates"! They have a name!

Yoshimo: Of course. These "Bruiser Mates" that you construct...Might I learn how to use them?

Jan: I won't lie to you, Yoshimo. There is a good chance that you'll lose both of your arms. Maybe even your face.

Yoshimo: If one is not willing to take risks then one is not much of an adventurer.

Jan: Well said! As Aunt Kylie used to say "Yeah, it's risky. But it's got gelantinous cubes!" I suppose it wouldn't hurt to let you try your hand at a few. Here, just twist the knob and throw it.

Yoshimo: Mmm...Maybe I should wait to perform such a feat. This...bomb...looks most unstable. I'm suprised they don't explode in your pack, good gnome...

Jan: Bite yer tongue! This is my best and most potent recipe, I'll have you know! Aunt Katie herself helped me mix this batch up, and I won't have you badgering her good name!

Yoshimo: I meant no disparagemant, Jan ...but I think I'll leave the bombing to you, for now.
_____

_____
Jan: Well, that was interesting. Much more so the last time I met a god.

Aerie: The 'last time' you met a god?

Jan: It was Oghma, the god of knowledge, though I can't say I really met him, I suppose, as he was drunk and asleep in cousin Roffer's back lawn. Or I could say ON cousin Roffers back lawn...he was a giant of an avatar, sprawled out and snoring. I wonder how you get a god drunk?

Anomen: That is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard, gnome. Oghma is a serious and wise god that deserves more respect from you...if you are at all capable of fit.

Jan:But it's true! Somone had drawn a mustache on his face and yanked his underwear clear up to his shoulder blades. No idea who, but all I can think of is that it must have been one hell of a party. But if you won't believe me, Ano, despite how much it hurts old Jan, I guess there's nothin'I can do about it...(sniff!) Poor Jan Jansan! He's such a liar! (Boo hoo!)

Aerie: I know it's quite disrespectful...but the image is quite funny...(giggle) Oh, you're *terrible*!

Personally I feel thrice blessed whenever I get a Jan or Korgy dialog to pop up in the game no matter how many times I hear them.

Yeesss...I'll try and remember that next time Korg pipes up with that 'Ye know...' and my toes start to curl :D
sorry, this thread is about posting funny dialog

Oh right, of course. Well in that case, anything by Saemon gets my vote; 'Aw hell. I'll be below decks securing the...uh...something...' :)

This one is rare at least, I think...

Girl- "MY MOTHER SAYS GNOMES ARE GROWN FROM DIRT!!"

Jan - "Your mother wouldn't happen to be married to Uncle Scratchy,
would she? Sounds about the right temperament..."

heheh
anyway, I've to admit, he's fun...
AND I think he's sorta GOOD, he does only jokes, and exorted me to save
Immie ASAP, who he doesn't even know yet!!
So now I like him more than before!! :D

Oh my gosh, Uncle S. I haven't seen half of those dialogues. You'll have to tell me the tales sometime...But I do love the Jan and Mazzy one, but my all time favorite is definetly Ano the Dung Orc. I'm trying to get that one, but it's not coming up between the two!

On another note, Valygar TALKS?! (He's such a cardboard charactor.)

You know, I wonder if Valygar has any of his own unique dialogue, besides answering Jan. I never kept him for very long, and I'd be interested in finding out. You're right, he seems to be lacking depth - at least, you never see him react in any other manner than a "quiet musing" mode.

I've always had a suspicion that Valygar was added to provided a moral dilemma for the player (to keep, or kill?), rather than anybody whose character as an NPC attracted attention. He really could have used some "dialog buffing."

@ Chanak

So true. I know that people who stand back and see the whole picture are better at staying alive, but his extent in rediculous. I do recal somewhere along the line of a dialogue between him and Mazzy, where she forcefully made him her Squire. He didn't really care for it, but I think he only had two lines when she had, like, eight. I was really dissapointed on how they backed out on Valygar's charactor. I'm guessing his quest is about the only time he really does talk, and very little at that. It's a shame they wasted such a great NPC like that. I love his abilities, but he's just soooo boring.

Actually, I think Fable has something going there. Helm knows I've wanted him dead several times because he was just to quiet and it got on my nerves (Oh, look at me praying to Helm now). I was just like, "Okay, is he depressed about something all the time or what?"

Yeah, that's definetly it! For some reason I am incredibly partial to Anome/Jan conversations. I actually think Jan is about the only person who can smart off to Anomen and get away with it. It's quite amusing to see a gnome run circles around the knight with his words. :D

For Valygar, I've only had him in my party long enought for the Mage Stronghold quest. I dumped him soon after. I figured if he was that dull during his main role in the game, well, you know...

@Uncle Scratchy:

Myself, I've enjoyed all of the moments BG2 has created. I've enjoyed the light-hearted humor the most - which is a big reason why I like Jan in my party, in addition to my other favorites - and find that there's always something more to be discovered in the fabric of this game. I like the richness of it. I enjoyed feeling a little stressed out in Spellhold, wondering what to do next. What I liked even better, though, was Jan's belch at just the right moment. Turnip reflex, you know. :D

@Fable, Aqua Chan:

Valygar's character certainly does draw out those kinds of emotions, as does Anomen at times. In one aspect, perhaps, the game can be seen as offering one moral dilemma after another. I know I faced them again and again, in every quest. The Underdark posed several, as I recall, as did the Sahuagin city.

Ooooh. I never got that Jan and Valygar one simply because he wasn't in my party long enough. Nor did I take him to the Underdark or the Sahuagin city. Mmm...Maybe I shouldn't be so quick to judge. I gave Anomen more than one chance, maybe I just let Valygar have the same oppertunity...

Of course he's depressed all the time. He comes from a cursed family of evil mages and he was forced to kill his own mother (after she became a zombie). He does not trust mages and despises magic.

Yes, but I wish he had active dialogs based on his own style of conversation and contacts with the outer world, which he doesn't. You *know* the way Jan, Minsc, Jan, Jaheira, Viconia, Korgan, Keldorn, Anomen, etc, view things around them. Valygar is reactive. His big dialog moment *is* quite good, since he turns the tables on Jan who typically uses others as a reflecting surface for his own whimsical inventiveness.

But Valygar needed more--maybe a heartfelt discussion with your hero? A dialog with Edwin, or Jaheira?
