Well, in Uncle Scratchy's example a Kensai making the decision to give up his swords and delve into the arcane makes perfect sense, and that would explain him having a lot of profs in swords and then using a staff in stead. From a roleplay standpoint it's believable.

Wizards don't use staves because "it's more wizardly to do so", but because they don't know how to use any other weapon. Why on earth would a former kensai stop using swords? Obviously, you'll have to do without while working your way back up to full dual, but after that I'd go back to swords anytime.

Its all about the character of the character

Anyone can make up legible or even illegable reasons as to why *There* Kensai/mage can do XXX or why elves can fly or why catapoulted can of mule rectums can kill a terrasque...

The simple fact is, people do things for one of three reasons.
1) Theve never done it before
2) It works
3) Its fun from an Rp perspective

The simple fact is, Kensai mages work.. And no amount of argument is going to stop people from picking a powerfull class no matter how un Rp'ish it is

The simple fact is.. I payed for my copy of soa and tob and ill use it as a coaster if I want to and no one can stop me....
you hear that!!!
NOBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Evil laughter fades off into the distance...)

Ok then, this is the concept behind my future(...) char,
admitting that you have a point with the dualwielding/casting
conflict, @Astafas! :)
The girl has been rised by Gorion, and he wanted a basic-fighting
training (knowing all that he knew) for her.
So she accepted training as you could learn a martial art, just
as an exercise of style.
But she always refused the use of armors or helmets, as she considered
such things only an obstacle for movements.
So she became trained in the use of swords and skilled movements
(this is why I edited the char with a +1 permanent movement
speed and added Defensive Spins...), but in truth, things like
"honor in battle" held no meaning for her
(beeing supergood and peaceful! :D )
So we're not talkin' about a "traditional" kensai, still this class
is the best suited to describe her abilities.
(I compensated the bonuses with a permanent -6 to strenght, ADDITIVE
even with potions and belts. The strong conflict between the taint
and her pure soul and will prevent her to use her body at a full extent.
She suffered a -1 each time she gained a Bhaalspawn power, and this won't
be cancelled by the Slayerchange ability)
Obviously during the journey she will decide to study magic to
improve the odds to find her soul again...

I admit that dualwielding should make casting almost impossible.
Already I find a bit strange that you can freely choose from
up to FOUR weapons in your quickslots...
The game-mechanics allow a lot of things....
Maybe you're supposed to drop things now and then.
Anyway, I'll go with a single weapon until I'll have both the
Amulet of Power and the Robe of Vecna!
Then we can assume that spells are really easily casted, with
the need of very semplified movements, so you can dualwield
again! :D :D Mad Littiz...
You're also permanently vocalized!
As weapons, D'akkon Blade + Malakar, then Hindo's Doom:
all with defensive properties... ;)

AHA!!!

so littiz does do some editing...adding defensive spin...

so got you there....

editing is so much fun, since i rarely roleplay, and i admit freely i get more fun figuring out new ways to hack the game than anything else....

buts till, from a tactical view, staves make less sense for the dual, than two single handed weps...impr haste...

heck, even clubs might be better...

straight tob, no mods, axes and long swords is best...

axe of unyielding and angurval, anyone????

or axes and warhammers, swap out sword with crommy...

but once you install sola and item upgrade, the katana rules...

so littiz does do some editing...adding defensive spin...

But I also added the "curse", -6 to strenght, this means 16
with the mightiest belt!!!
Damn, why am I trying to justify me...
I admit, I'm a hopeless cheater.... finally revealed....

Since unfriendly is on this thread...

I have a question for you, oh mighty hacker...

If I change the visuals for a single handed sword to that of a two handed sword, a leave the swing pattern.. Will that leave with with a bigger one handed sword, or a frozen game?.. Or have you had no exp with this?,

Any answer is a good answer, Id just rather not have to do it myself to find out (Im vere lazy, its what holds me back at- well, everything)
