Time Stop is good and Improved Alacrity is good but I don't see why the two
have to be combined. What Improved Alacrity
really needs is spells with a short casting time or the Robe of Vecna.

Impr. Alactricity is twn times better iff you have the vobe of veca, if not it is ok but not life saving

Alacrity is a good spell by itself and in combination with Robe of Vecna and Amulet of Power OR Time Stop it's very good. In combination of all of them it becomes a monster, but especially at very high levels, when the caster is able to unleash a truckload of 9th and 8th level spells within the blink of an eye.
Anyway, get Planetar first. It's an awfully powerful spell and you'll always memorize it at least once for the rest of your adventuring career.

Why the Time Stop? If you have The Robe, unloading your spellbook doesn't take much longer than an instant anyway. At least if time is running you get to see the effect of your spells, which might lead you to distribute them more efficiently.

I'll try to explain: I like to mix physical attacks in between spells when I'm in timestop...

Wise point
It depends on the situation, one may want to use more spell or more melee or the appropriate mix of the two.

Don't get me wrong; the two go together pretty well, I just think they're equally useful when not used in conjunction.

i actually have to agree with xyx...with auto pause, anyway, set for end of the round, i typically never even use timestop, acuity combo...
i much prefer to have my sorc use acuity only, and my fighter mages all love timestop....3 full rounds to whale on the enemy???
whoo hoo....
and tactically its better to watch what happens when you have unloaded a bunch of spells via acuity on a monster...if remove magic did its thing for one enemy, but failed on another, its better to find out while acuity is still active....
