Thanks, I'll get a big ankh or whatever and beat them up. Do you know of anyone who claims/has been told he or she was a slave, beggar or farmhand in a previous life? I've had friends (well, more distant acquaintances really

) that were into astrology and witchcraft and they were all temple priestesses, princesses or warrior maidens. Considering that more people are alive today than have existed in total previously in history, my guess is that a bunch of them have all been the same priestess. No wonder their personality is a bit watered out...

Well, I'm a witch, and a Wiccan, and have been for 25 years; but if reincarnation exists--and if it exists for everybody--and if it exists for everybody in exactly the same way, using a linear temporal model--and if it exists for everybody in exactly the same way, using a linear temporal model, for the same purpose--well, that's too many if's for me to consider it. Besides, why spend time trying to figure out what were you, assuming you were anything, when you're what you are, right now, whatever that may be?

As for being some High Priest or High Priestess of Hathor or whatever in a previous life, I can only call out, "Moooooo." The whole thing reminds me too much of kids who spend all their time building level 150 characters in RPG games, to make up for their sense of powerlessness in reallife. Sad but understandable for the kids, who often are legitimately bewildered; kinda bordering on neurotic, for adults, IMO. There are better solutions than faking a spiritual pedigree.

Often fused with the feline goddess Bast and cow goddess Het-heru in Egyptian culture, the great lioness goddess and wife of Ptah was the bloodthirsty embodiment of the fire of Ra. She was the agent of vengeance and swift justice. In one legend, Ra created her to destroy mankind after it turned away from morality and the gods, but later relented and changed her to the only slightly less destructive guise of Het-heru, love.

As legend goes, Ra created Sekhmet to kill all the unfaithful worshippers in the Khem, and she did. Then she got out of hand, and began killing the faithful as well. Ra was at a loss of what to do. Finally, he filled a lake full of red wine. Sekhmet, thinking the wine was blood, drank it all and fell into a drunken stupor. While she was asleep, Ra changed her into Het-heru, the equally dangerous but in a different way goddess of love.

Edit: Funnily enough, Hypnos follows all of those character traits, check here (pop ups!) I am hypnos, now quake mortal, okay, I'm not Zeus but could you keep the noise down please, I'm trying to convince Palinurus to nap...

You might consider Morpheus, the god of sleep.

Or possibly Bacchus, the heavily sanitized Roman version of Dionysus. Bacchus was the god of wine, but Dionysus was a god of solar deity of regeneration whose rites involved provoking religious frenzy.

I still think Coyote trumps all you deity wanna-bes. I get to have all the fun of Loki, but I don't have to wear the silly hat. In addition, I can take on animal shapes, impregnate women, and teach valuable life-lessons to chiefs and heroes.

On the weekends I can trot up the coast to visit my friend Raven, who does much the same sort of thing.

Yes, but you forget that Coyote also represents all of man's quirks, like impatience, greed, nosiness...

In one Zuni legend, Coyote's suspicion of his partner, Eagle, led to Coyote opening a box and releasing the sun and the moon, which is why we now have cold weather. Now I have to replant all my ornamental grasses in the front yard every Spring and Aegis is freezing in his can of sardines with the peguins and it is all your fault!

Dionysus, all I know about that is something to do with the delusions of Jim Morrison and Morpheus, well, he's cool, so I guess I could be him. Although Hypnos is more in telling with my character I think Morpheus is much more cool and important so Morpheus it is.
