@K: I don't care if you are the hypno-toad, if you start the crumpet argument again you're going down

maybe, but I'd prefer a crumpet. how do I get this across...
muffin = mufin
english muffin = muffin made in england
crumpet = crumpet
and toast is infinitely more versatile, if only due to the increased surface area for extra flavour, different types of bread for variety, and stiffness for hours of tasty frisbee fun.

Lies! not only are crumpets inconveiently soft and posessed of an ungainly flabbiness, but the top section of a round loaf baked without a tin gives an excellent round aerofoil shape.

Biscuits = Cookies
English Muffin = Breakfast greatness
Burnt English Muffins = Convenient hockey pucks
English Muffins = Aerodynamic sleekness
Toast = Wobbles in mid-air
Marmite = Yecchy brownish residue...

you realise that I am already onto your shallow fabrication of a alternative name for crumpets. I need photographic evidence.
and not a picture of a crumpet with the caption 'english muffin'. I know your type, you breakfast revisionist

Pfft. Bloody lemon. Of course I love strumpets for breakfast. However, that does not stop me from consuming the ultimate breakfast accompaniment - yea, the basic building block of a balanced meal itself - which, naturally, is the
English Muffin. I shall forgive you your indulgence. Pass the hot butter, please.
EDIT: As for the photographic evidence...nay, a photo would not do the revolutionary English Muffin justice. Indeed, it must be experienced in order to comprehend the true joy of communing with the nooks and crannies.
Crumpets...bah. Barbarian!

Things Toasty Update
Today, I decided to break new breakfast ground. Relying upon my extensive culinary instincts and uncanny knack for kitchen innovation, I forged ahead with variations of one of my all-time favorites, the onion bagel. Supplying myself with robust onion bagels from Lender's Bagel shoppe, I toasted them thoroughly, browning them to perfection as I paced upon the linoleum restlessly. I could feel inspiration floating about in the ether, and tastiness dancing in the air...ah, I fancy I understand how a young father, expecting the arrival of his first child, must feel upon the eve of delivery. Seizing the toasted specimens as soon as they emerged from the bake, I placed them upon my workbench with precision, focusing my attention soley upon transforming these rather bland little marvels of the baker's craft into a gift from the gods...
Slathering the bagels with generous amounts of Philadelphia cream cheese, the metamorphosis began. Retrieving slices of beefsteak tomato I had set aside beforehand, I applied the lightly salted giants of tomatoey goodness to the bed of cream cheese I had prepared for them...it was almost as if I could hear music tinkling upon the breeze as I did. Yes, it was a magical morning in the kitchen.
The most beautiful things in life are often the most simple. With the old adage gently echoing in my coffee-starved mind (the pot was still brewing), I topped the marvels off with a slice of Canadian bacon apiece. The music seemed to reach a crescendo then, rising to the rafters as I prepared to dig in to the work of my hands...
I liked it.

come to think of it, I've never actually had a bagel. and to be honest, onion bagels really don't appeal, but what are they like?
