If I took a crazy amount of fortify willpower potions, would it make me completely resistant to this spell, do ya think?
I wouldn't think you'd be completely resistant, but 5 exclusive resist magicka and you would be, Nalacarya in Balmora sells one potion, and restocks every 24 hours. By waiting a day, buying the potion, going off, doing my own thing, coming back, and buying another, I evenutally had five, and I promptly took them all before putting on the boots of blinding speed. You could do the same, and either wait the 24 hours for her to restock (take you about 3 minutes of real life time) each time and buy one potion each day, or do your own thing and just come back five times at least a day apart, but whatever you do, if you have five of those potions you will be 100% resistant to the magic of this lich.

To get the quest you need to talk to the nurse in the infirmary. I don't know when it gets initiated, but a woman outside of the temple told me that there was a disease problem that maybe I could help fix. Inide the infirmary were lots of rat. So I killed them and then the nurse told me more stuff that sent me on the quest.

I think it can be found just before you get to the temple gardens. Yeah, pretty sure. There are two ways you can go - one leads to where the liches are, the other is a little twisty path down to the door of Gedna Relvels tomb. Go prepared! He's a tough ol' corpse!

The ring of equity is the way to go, but Fast Eddie will get it for you only after you make him your Mouth which you can do only after you join the Televani council. It's not as good but there is an amulet you get from one of the Dagoths on Red Mountain that reflects/absorbs prettywell. It's part of the 'Heartthrum', burn, shine, whatever collection.
You can't get close without activating her dialouge but a strong rush will take her down as long as you can deal with one spell, at the most two. The Amulet of Shadows is also useful here because it allows you to focus on the Lich without being bothered by any other creatures.

Gedna Relvel's tomb is listed by name.
The Khajit woman whom you help as part of that line of quests is standing about 50' from the door. (near temple gardens)
She can also tell youhow to open the secret door.
I tried the hiding behind the pillar method. It worked. eventually.

I entered the tomb, and from the message I got I figured I'd be in for trouble so I used invisibility, but I didn't see ANYTHING inside the tomb. Do I need to talk to someone in order to get that lich to appear?

Then, as if that was not enough, they decide to get rid of me via sweepstakes as well

Yup. That message is the opening of the quest. spoilers:
Once you get back to the temple, going up from the basement, talk to the healer right there. She'll tell you everyone's suddenly stricken with the crimson plague, and could you please kill the rats for her? Then the next time you go towards the basement again, you should see a khajiit who wants healing and will tell you about the lich. So then you can heal her and go back down and kill the lich.

"Can someone on PC please take a screenshot of the robe and stick up here because I am trying to find the best looking robe and I dont want to do this long quest and just get an ugly robe, so please.....? "
The lich was wearing ugly lich brown. I think the robe was plain brown. You know, that walking dead in a potato sack look that's so popular below the surface of Mournhold.

How exactly do you get the door to her tomb open? Because I tried talking to the kitty who knocked the guard out and she wont say anything about the bloody door. I know its there, I can hear the vermin squeaking... but i cant get the door open. The game doesnt even acknowledge it as a door. Help?
