Favorites solo classes:
Sorcerer: became the most powerful character
dual Ranger/Cleric (8/20): character with smoothest play through
dual Berserker/Mage (9/17): another character with smooth play through
dual Mage/Cleric (10/20): the character with the largest number of spells, the best summoner/supporter
Any of them can be very good in normal parties. And as you can see, I'm a big fan of spellcasters...

Doesn't anyone like stalkers? And gnome illusionists. I like thief mages because you can cast invisibilty to backstab.

Stalkers are my favorite ranger kit. I don't think they're the most powerful, but they're just cool, with backstab, enhanced stealth, haste, etc. Their drawback is that they can't wear better than leather armor, but if you get the shadow dragon armor, that's not really much of a drawback. It's just 2 AC pts worse than the red dragon armor, which is IMHO the best armor around. You don't give up much, and you get quite a bit in return.

Favorite class? Can't pick one :)

I personally like:

Human Ranger/Cleric - A lot of spells, cleric & druid, crom fayer/flail of ages/mass of disruption dealing lots of damage

Half-Orc Barbarian - very quick, lots of attacks, rage is better than beserk IMO, long swords and katanas are best. Personally this one will be very very good when throne of bhaal comes out due to being immune to all normal damage at high levels making him the best (or one of the best) tanks in the game.

Elf Archer - killer damage with true shot, very effecient, high dex combined with bow is effective, +5 in short bows from start of game to fuel tungain bow +1 and then bow of geasen (whatever its called)

Human Monk - all the these 3rd additional classes are just insanely too powerful).. you know why

Half-Orc Beserker - Much better than kensai (even as a human and dualing to mage). If i had to pick a kensai, it'd be straight elf with long swords.

Oh, and theives?
Assassin is most fun to play but swashbucker/cleric or swash/mage is probably better. At most times, I think the gnome illusionist/thief multiclass is very effective and fun to play. I think Jan is much cooler than any pre-made character of this kind.

I'm not one for mages as being my favorite classes. I like standard fighters or interesting combo-classed fighters without mages involved at all.

1. Elven Sorcerer-Possibly the most powerful class
2. Ranger/Cleric dual-Also very strong
3. Elven Archer-give him a bow and you got another fighter
4. Halfling Assassin with strength belt-with backstab x7 you can't go wrong, especially with a good strength

How about dwarves as both berserkers and straight fighters. As good as half-orcs with their +1 Con, and they have the bonuses to saves. They are practically magic resistant at mid levels for anything that needs a save.

The Monk is a badass

Max out his levels
strap on a girdle of giant strength and the guantlets of crushing(a must) and you absolutly kickass.

took out Firkrag with the quivering palm(one shot) very cool

Typically deals out 30+ damage and makes most of his hits.

He beats out the Cavalier I'd been working on by a mile.

Elven Archer

Elf Racial Bonuses:
Infravision(60'), Resistance to Charm and Sleep (90%), bonus to Long Bow and Long Sword (+1)

Archer Kit Strengths:
Missile weapon bonus (+1 bonus to hit and damage for every 3 levels)
Called Shot once per day for every 4 levels (lasts 10 seconds, hits induce: 4th level -1 THAC0 of target, 8th level -1 Save vs. Magic of target, 12th level -1 Strength of target, 16th level +2 damage bonus)
Racial Enemy (+4 to hit)
Dual Weapon Specialization (**) can be increased to Master (***)
Stealth, Charm Person, Charm Mammal
Spell casting starts at level 8 with level 1 Priest spells

Archer Kit Weaknesses :
Can only be proficient (+) in melee weapons
Cannot wear metal armor
Must maintain Good alignment
If party reputation drops below 4, becomes a Fallen Ranger, loses all Ranger abilities, and is the equivelant of a Fighter (cannot regain Ranger status)

At higher levels (10+), most enemies can't get to you in time to make you switch to melee. Also, arrows cause spell disruption, which makes an Archer a great mage hunter. If the magic caster is shielded in any way, Arrows of Dispelling bring down the walls!!! I'm about to enter Suldanesslar with mine in a solo game, I've had NO problems. To give myself more of a challenge, I'm not using any melee weapons besides long swords (Daystar, and Flame Tongue), and katanas (Celestial Fury). Bohdi's bunch DID get some level drains in, but I was carrying scrolls of Restoration, so no biggee... (I was fatigued after, had to rest halfway through)
I'm sure the upcoming golemns will be a challenge, but I need it...

Enjoy your game !!!
