Sorcerer....no doubt.....a lot of spells, you don't have to memorize then.....great
Also the assassin is fun; and the druid...but i'll wait for ToB to play a druid.....

I'd have to say my favorite class would be a Swashbuckler, but the most powerful would probably be an Archer. I love the ability to use two weapons at once, and I think a thief PC is important. Traps are brilliant... you can destroy Irenicus in less than a second, before his damn Contingency spell is activated
. The Archer's powers hardly need an explanation.

fighter, nothing like good old hack and slash. I found collecting equipment was really fun since fighters are very dependant on equipment.

I'm really surprised that I'm saying this, but the Elven Fighter/Mage/Thief I'm currently playing is BY FAR the most fun I've had playing through with a character, and I've tried out a few (but only some have actually managed to finish before being retired)! Namely a pure Fighter, Kensai, Swashbuckler, Archer, Jester, Inquisitor, Assassin. For the longest time I didn't think about trying a F/M/T because of their level up cap of 11/12/14. Once I started playing him however I realized it isn't an issue at all. You really have to think when playing one of these, especially when the rest of your party starts equipping with great AC lowering items (ie: armour) that you would love to use on your own character but it would impede your thieving or casting abilities, so you don't. Can't wear any good armours until elven chain, so you have to manage with bracers, rings, cloaks, etc. However the pluses are many:
- Can memorize some good spells (up to level 6)
- Can reach a 5x backstab (with a level 11 fighter THACO, strength and weapon specialization this is pretty cool)
- Can become very good in 4 different thief skills (the rest to be improved in Throne of Bhaal)
- Can use any weapon class and style he wants
- Can cast high level spells from scrolls in a pinch
- Can go stealthy for scouting and backstabbing, plus surprise strike spellcasting
- Can cast Find Familiar to give yourself a nice HP boost
These are just some examples off the top of my head. I know there are stronger fighters, more complete thieves and more adept mage types in the game. However, if you're like me and are looking for a class that can give you a little bit of everything and lets you try out a character type you wouldn't normally play (the closest to a mage I've ever played is a Jester), then the F/M/T just might be for you. I've never enjoyed playing through with a character more...
Just my 2 cents,
ElvenKing

with my halfling assasin (spelling?) i got a backstab for 186 damage. i was NOT a crtitical hit, also!
with my elven assasin when he was at level 11 (i think) he got a backstab for like 170 or so.
Clestial fury is the best for backstabbing

My two favourites :
Priest of Helm - I like playing clerics.
And the second one with a bit cheating : Fighter/Mage/Cleric with removed XP cap - will destroy everything.
