The kensai kit is the cheese start kit... not matter what you dual class too (almost).

Kensai/Mage - I dont think the game can get any easier.. I practically ran through BG2 with it.

Kensai/Thief - Same thing as with mage but with the theives abilities.

IMHO the kensai should not be dual class'able. I cant see ANY reason why a >Sword Saint< should become a mage, theif or anthing else for that matter.

But at the end of the day, I really dont care... after playing through BG2 with a kensai mage, I really enjoyed the fact that I didnt play this class for my first game. But if people finds backstapping for 200hp of damage fun and gives them something to enjoy... go ahead.. I think you missing out on some of the fun of the game.

IMHO if you choose a kit, you shouldnt be able to dual class.

So by your definition, you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

I tend to disaggree. Picking a lock, I believe, anyone can learn this. Hiding in shadows, same thing. Given enough time and patience, anything is possible.

Lets say our sword saint stops practicing for a day or two and starts to learn the way of thieves, ala pickpocket, hide in shadows etc. It's not logically impossible. I mean what's he gonna do? After five minutes of unsuccessfully picking the lock he's suddenly gonna burst a temper tantrum and hack the door down? Possibly ;)

This is a fantasy game too which would therefore expand the boundaries of possibility a few inches more, I would think.

It is my opinion that any class should be able to dual into any other class. If you look at AD&D 3rd Edition rules, you'll actually see that this is indeed possible. Any class can now dual into any other class.

Picking locks and pockets are not what the subject. The kensai dont become a cheese killer with that.. what we are talking about is: Backstab, hide in shadows, use any item, insane traps etc. What I mean is, a sword saint should be up the same ally as a paladin when it comes to tradition etc and a paladin picking pockets...?!?

The thief class already got some really easy kill weapons and throw in a level 9 kensai abilities, you got something really nasty.
I remember my Bounty hunder/figher, I would just set traps and kill every big monster in the game, Dragon, Liches and Irenicus.. all fell to my traps.
But like I said, I dont make the rules and if you find it fun, go ahead... Im betting that when NWN is finally released there is gonna be the same thing with another class/combination. If im been hearing right, everyone is gonna wanna be a ranger to start with.
